You said it was better. Yes, understood that it's your opinion, but sometimes categorical statements raise fire/ire. Most are totally cool with other's druthers.

My old Sony receiver had an icon view of the channels. Not really turbo tune as it showed all the channels tiled about five or six across and four or five down. You scrolled through them.

That was in addition to the 8(?) turbo tune channels. I think the center of the grid was exit.

Use quicktune all the time. Would like to see the number of channels increased.

Number of channels is fine by me. More channels means more clicks. What I would like to see is the name of the current program when you move to a channel block.

I set up my quick tune for the family, my son has 2 slots I have 3 slots, and my wife has the rest. I comes in handy when my 4 year old comes out in the morning and wants his shows (Disney Jr).

Exactly, my old Hughes did this and it was very handy. Now get right on that.

I love the Quick guide, however, channel 205 doesn't work. Is that because there are 8 channels on 205? Bummer.

I like the quick tune. But, with the HD GUI I think a 4x3 grid quick tune would be a good compromise.

QuickTune is a great feature. It's drawback is it's limited to nine channels. A nice improvement would be multible QuickTune menus to choose from. That way one could list their favorite basic channels on one QuickTune menu, their favorite sports channels on another QuickTune menu, favorite movie channels on another QuickTune menu, ect.

It would only take one more operation, one or two seconds at max. Go to quick tune, choose which quick tune menu you want and select the channel you want. I did it all the time on my old receiver, only takes a second more. I guess it depends on whether you are used to it, I liked it so I still want it now.

I think the fact of the matter is that no matter what, someone will want some tweak, new feature etc, and if they do that some others won't be happy. Look at the screensaver. We have some that like it the way it is, some that want it enabled by default, some that want it disabled by default and some that don't want it to be an option to turn on at all.

    Same thing for Quicktune.

I use it for NASCAR for most of the year. Works great! I change the center slot to whichever network is broadcasting the race.

Another nice improvement for Quick Tune would be to show what is currently on each channel when you hilite it. This was a feature the old Hughes receivers had on their "Turbo Tune".

    :)

Thinking the same thing; development by committee. About eight different ideas put forth in this thread alone.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
