Anybody know what the chances are of Dish putting The Pentagon Channel on its lineup. They can't give the excuse of "We're in negotiations to add it." It is free to any one who wants it. All they have to do is sign a form and stick on the satellite. Everyone should get it. After all, we are paying for it with our tax dollars.

I understand the cameras they use cost $550 million each. The anchor desk alone was $940,000.

Would it qualify as a public access channel(like rfd, classic arts)?

We likely have to wait until some existing "Public Interest" channel dies off, and then re-request this one. That's what we did for Classic Arts Showcase and it worked. It was all timing.

This may be a very worthy channel for our line-up. With all the redundancy of the current programming that we get, I would much rather have a channel that must have some type of rating like, "NR or R or PG 13" for the war effort! Really, I would like to see the NFL channel like the dudes at Direct TV get!

I took a view at it this afternoon - what I watched was a forum with the Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs (General Peter Pace USMC) about how DOD needs to develop ways to bring in the rest of the Federal Government departments (State, Treasury, HUD, HHS, etc.) into the war fighting / rebuilding process sooner and to get them into the process of Joint Task Forces sooner - take advantage of their expertise. Not "exciting" programming, but a good view from the top on what is current thinking at DOD. Also about bringing more civilians into the DOD education schools for developing leaders. It would be better than some of the "current" PI programming, IMHO...

Well, Channel 9417 (Safety-Net) has been off air for almost a year now. Maybe they can put the Pentagon channel there.

As noted, SafetyNet's hole still remains to be filled. Plus, since the quota is based on a percentage of channels on the satellite, E* probably has added enough channels to 110 to require another one as well.

I wonder what the deadline is to meet the quota?
