I have a DirecTV installer here now, for 30 minutes so far, he's been all talk, and no action. Shoulda seen his face when I showed him he'd have to run two lines through a very, very tight attic. I have a bad feeling about this one, thought I'd post up a blow by blow.

OK, now he has been sitting in his truck for 15 minutes "checking to see if he needs to replace my dish". I have an AT9 already. Lordy, all he is here for is to run two lines and install a DVR in my bedroom. Wants $52.50 each line to fish the lines, says the install only includes "exterior penetration" not wall fishing....

Id say that sounds pretty standard. Wall fishing usually cost's extra.

Well, he won't fish the lines, says he's too big. He's going to do everything else, and schedule a small guy to come and run the lines another day. I can't say I blame him, he's bigger than me, and I wouldn't do it.

When did you order the DVR? I called in Saturday and the next available time for them to replace my dish (thats it) is August 28. :(

I ordered two weeks ago, handled entirely online. I was surprised that they showed, and showed on time, because I never got any confirmation other than the confirming e-mail seconds after I made the order.

He's up installing a WB68 now, taking an awful long time about it. Very weird.

Ditto on that...Still waiting on my installer as well... They haven't called yet either - thought they were supposed to call and give an ETA??

Does 8 to noon mean 8 MINUTES to noon???

Well, we are all done here, except I am awaiting a call from the installers colleague who is supposed to be a small person who can do the tight runs. We'll see. At least the HR20 and the multi-switch is installed and functioning.

I never got one when I scheduled an appointment. Watch out, if you get the same guy I had he thinks all 100 HR20s are black.

    He's absolutely right, I charge 60/line/wall, I would say 105 is a good deal.

Well, the install guy showed up around 1:30. He's installing the dish now - inside work should be easy since I've done all the prep work for him...

Yeah, I'm gonna pay, and gladly. I attempted to do it myself this weekend. At 5'8 190, I could barely fit through the gap, and got pretty claustrophobic just making the attempt. Heck with that - somebody smaller and willing, I'll pay AND tip the fella.

The installer did a great job, all though considering he took 5 hours to install the dish and run the two sets of cables on the side of the house it makes sense it was so neat and tidy. Now both receivers are working great.
