I called E* to inquire about the voom channels. The CSR I spoke with at E* said that installation of a second dish to pick up 61.5 would be $100. Has anyone else heard anything different.

If you can do a self-install, you can get good used equipment off of places like EBay for a very reasonable price. If E* does the install you benefit from warranty coverage. I suspect that the E* install would include at least, a DP34, adequate dish/LNB, plus cable. For that, the price isn't bad.

E* also has a pretty reasonable HD package plan that gets you two rooms of HD receivers and six months free HD for $19.99 a month for 3 months, plus a free DVR upgrade.

Check out this site for more info.

Ignore the CSRs for now... You know, I wonder why they don't just say "I don't know." when they don't know the answer to a question. That is a horrible business model. If you don't know, get someone who does, If no one knows, admit it.

There may be an upgrade fee for new or existing subs...

One silver lining for alot of people... E* has alot of must carry stations that no one cares about too much at 61.5. So people in certain DMAs (Detroit for instance) can get a FREE 61.5 wing.

What switches do I need to get Dish 500 and 61.5 on 3 different receivers? Thanks.

If Dish Pro a DP21, DP34 or DPP44 will work. If you have legacy lnbs you will need a sw21, 44, or 64.

My Dish 500 is dp, but my dish pointing to 61.5 has one legacy lnb. Right now, I only receive 61.5 on 1 receiver. Thanks.

If they are 'must carry' must Dish then install free of charge? How would I find out if there are any 'must carry' stations?

Your LNBs and Switch need to all be compatable... you need to get a DP Dual for you 61.5... More specifically, haw many receivers do you have right now, what models are they, do you plan on upgrading again any time soon i.e. adding receivers?

If they have added or moved any "Must Carry" stations to the 61.5 since you've been a customer then yes they have to install a wing for free (and any switch you may need as well). What is your DMA?

You are in the should be in the Detroit DMA... Yes there is a must carry on the 61.5 (channel 38)

Do you get Detroit locals right now? If so call E* and tell them you aren't picking up channel 38 and you want it.

Do you have the adapter for your 6000? Or is that the one receiver you have hooked up to your 61.5? Any way if you don't have the adapter you'll need to get one for the 6000 to make it work with the DP Stuff... Your best solution is get a DP dual for your 61.5 and get a DP34 and you'll be all set.

I have a dish 500 (110/119) with a dp quad feeding 1-501 1-510 and a 921 so what switch would I need to get the 921 to see both dish 500 and second dish at 61.5 ? Thanks alot!

revenson - a DP34 would work, or you could just add 2 DP21 switches if you use a DP Dual LNB in your 61.5 dish and don't care about your 501 and 510 seeing 61.5.

Hmmmm. I still have my old Voom dish. Is it truly as simple as connecting a piece of coax from it to one of the open ports on my SW64 switch and giving E* a call to activate?? In my case the dish is some 30 feet off the ground and I'm not all that keen for heights, but what the heck for an extra $5 a month the additional channels would be worth it!!

From everything I've been reading, it won't be as simple as that. But if you give it a try just let me know if it happened to work anyway.
