The tagline is from a Stephen King series ("The Dark Tower"), spoken by a character named Jake as he was about to die by losing his grip and falling into an abyss. I can relate to that.

Welcome back. There is a nasty flu or flu-like bug going around so you have my sympathy there. And it has been quiet around here hasn't it, although jonstad's been trying his best to fill in for you  (just kidding)

HGL--Glad you're back. The board's been dull without you.

I've been down with a flu for the past week, running a temp up to 104.1. I was 3 years of age shy of being eligible to get a flu shot back when the gov't got into the parceling out the flu shots business. Of course now, lots of people are coming down with it at the same time surplus, now outdated, vaccine is being dumped.

I think I asked you about that when I first saw it. It was probably about the time you weren't around. I recognized the quote, and figured "The Dark Tower" was probably where you got it. Have you read the rest of the books? Glad to see you back.

When one, in essense, has no immune system, any bug can seem like the worst ever, so I have to be very careful about exposures.

Thanks for the welcome back. I'll try to keep a civil tongue, at least civil compared to a WFW cage match. :D

 I'll do my best to be more foregiving and not jump to conclusions... I hope you don't think I target you intentionally or out of malice, I don't. Thanks for the welcome back.

Thanks! I'm on the last in the series, book 7, now. I have the first 4 in hardback, but the last 3 I have on my palmpilot as e-books.

I went through them in e-books. Made it easier to read at night when I couldn't sleep after my surgery. Got a lot of reading done. Not necessarily much sleeping. Let me know what you think of the end.

So far it seems like the last 3 books are not up to par with the first 4. Sort of like he knew he needed to get them out so he just whipped up something quick. While they're entertaining, I sort of feel "cheated". Of course, I'm only about 1/4 the way through the last book, so I don't know how it's going to end. Perhaps he will redeem himself. I felt the first 4 books were outstanding, a great start on a series.

I certainly don't want to ruin it for you, but it sure wasn't what I expected. King is starting to go back and write other stories, mostly short stories, to fill in some of the holes.
