He's listed as age 51 at TMZ and Deadline Hollywood.

CNN is showing this as breaking news, so I'm more inclined to, sadly, believe this story.

    RIP, James.

    Peace,
    Tom

There was something about his personality that pulled us in and gave hope to we men who do not look like Brad Pitt. He will be missed.

This is exactly why I lost weight and started eating better. Sad deal and totally preventable.

I'm not one inclined to watch dramas, but along came "The Sopranos" and I was hooked! My subscriptions to HBO could be timed to when a new season debuted. Thanks so much James for portraying such an enduring character on an enduring series. RIP.

I think Gandolfini was the primary reason for me changing some of my viewing habits. I never liked "mob dramas". But his portrayal of Tony Soprano (to say nothing of the writing staff that gave him the opportunity to excel) convinced me that there could be shows with subject matter that might ordinarily turn me off that I would end up enjoying. (Downton Abbey comes to mind for a recent show)
