He was a true legend. I still remember being blow over by "Take Five", which was my introduction to modern jazz. R.I.P.

Wow. I'll have to listen to some Brubeck today. One of the legends of modern jazz is gone.

A good long life. My memories of his music start with the Monterey Jazz Festival in the late 1950's and early 1960's. It seems so long ago and yet the memories are so vivid. Music does that.

    RIP

He's one I think sounds better on vinyl.

    Along with Oscar Peterson.

I have both "Time Out" and "Jazz Red Hot and Cool" on Vinyl. Time to dig them out and play them.

Terry Gross' 'Fresh Air' on NPR replayed an interview with him today, I'm sure it's available online. He deferred Piano lessons to the last semester of Conservatory because he couldn't read music!.

The teacher went to the Dean to complain that she couldn't pass him because he couldn't read music. Other instructors over the years lobbyed for him to pass because he could write so well and play so well.

What would I give for 1/10th, 1/100th of that skill!
