I could care less about those two channels. The news and weather stinks. Everyone I talk to is sick of charter cable. BTW did you hear the rumor they are raising the cable prices AGAIN in the summer of 2004?

i had a guy knock on my door and when i answered the door it was a guy from charter cable offerering me $150.00 and free cable for my dish system.i politely told him no and advised him of local channels would be soon be here with dish .he knows about the locals coming and he told me he was informed by charter that he may not have a job much longer when the locals hit.

When charter came and cut off our cable they would not remove the wire from the pole. I told them I wasnt coming back, but he insisted a rep from charter would come around to change my mind! That never happened yet, but if things get bad it may. All my neighbors want dish network when the locals are available. The AT50 + locals for $29.95 is good for lower income folks and the elderly. I hope charlie keeps it that price.

I found out this evening that Johnstown does have WNPA19, and WQED(pbs?). WNPA is channel 15, and WQED is 13. There is no WB on the Johnstown cable system.

Does anyone know what area will be considered "local" for j-town/ altoona local channels ( how many mile radius)? I live near the pa/md state line in Bedford County which is considered part of the Johnstown viewing audience, will this be available to me?

The DMA has the following counties: Elk, Cameron, Jefferson, Clearfield, Centre, Cambria, Blair, Huntington, Somerset, Bedford.

This will help dish in several ways. First the area has many valleys and mountains where people cant get cable. Second the area is low-income and the AT50 plus locals is only $29.95, and third there are many retired couples on fixed incomes who would get a nice package for $29.95. We have no UPN station in altoona, but johnstown does, so if dish could get WNPA put on the package that would help them even more.

BREAKING NEWS:locals may be pushed back due to only PBS and NBC being officially signed to retrans.agreements.FOX and ABC does not want to sign the agreements from what i was told from a rep from WJAC.WTAJ(aka-CBS CHANNEL 10)IS NOT SIGNED.Iwould suggest that anyone reading this should contact Marty at942-1010 and ask him whats up.HE runs WTAJ.If the retrans agreements are not signed by Monday1/12/03 chances of are locals being turned on next to none. Also from what i've been told we may also loose dish 500 because of the delay.

I talked to my installer this morning, and he says everything is on schedule for the 15th on DISH500. He also said WTAJ was one of the first to sign the agreements. So according to him everything is ready set go. Time will tell. The only thing I cant confirm is WNPA.
