Why not? If I was replacing a HR20-700 that HAS OTA capability and I told them that I use a OTA, why would they not have one? I assume that DIRECTV doe snot consider this a normal install for OTA as they HR20 is no longer being sold.

So we will support it, but if you have pay now to get OTA?

Not a deal breaker and I am fine with it. But no lighted remote on your fancy flagship DVR? Its part of the nickel and dime thing that I feel that goes on.

Again, overall I am happy with everything and the offer DIRECTV made.

When I DID ask the installer what he think happened with my appointment yesterday that was mysteriously canceled, she shook his head and said the tech that was assigned , does not like to do 4-8 installs and usually cancels them, nice!

But hey, I am good! :D

Nah ... it would be more trouble than its worth to swap the upstairs white DECA brick on the HR22 with a CCK since it only has one coax input.

So you can't connect it inline like with the white DECA brick, but must be connected in parallel by using the green two-way splitter he installed by the HR34 with one output feeding the CCK and another the HR22's satellite input.

Then you would have to place a DECA BSF on the HR22's satellite input.

I have not heard of any installers bringing an AM21 in fact when I became a customer and asked for OTA compatible equipment they could not even send me the AM21 until the HR22's that were installed were activated.

I had professional installation and did not get a remote with my HR34 at all. If you already have a remote they don't need to give you another. Again I've never heard anyone say their installer carried backlit remotes to give to existing or new customers.

AM21's are not carried on installer's trucks. That's been well documented here.

    Unfortunately PIP is a little cumbersome right now;

But using the "INFO" button to bring up the channel banner, use the arrow key to scroll across to "PIP." Hit "SELECT" and choose a specific PIP MODE and then turn it "on" from the same drop down menu.

Then use the down arrow button to swap pictures.

To turn off go back into the channel banner in the same manner and select "off" in the PIP drop down menu.

I called in and explained what happens. A AM-21 is being shipped to me at no cost. DIRECTV has been great through this whole process. I am truly happy and grateful. This is the first time being out I contract, I pushed for a deal and got it. All my other upgrade were standard through the years (the few I have had.).

Just a big thanks to everyone at DIRECTV for a very pleasant upgrade process and looking out for a 12 year customer for his loyalty!

Can you dim the lights on the HR34?

    Thanks

Well, that's good to hear. When I got my HR24, one of the biggest complaints was that there was no backlit version of the RC65. I wanted to keep my NFL remote downstairs, but couldn't as I need a backlit remote in the bedroom.

I set 2 shows to record as a series on the directv app on my iPhone. But they are not showing up on the todo list or series manager on the hr34. The room is correct on my account. Any ideas? Time maybe?
