ms heinz, who only recently started to use the last name of her present husband after many years of marriage, does more to flog the memory of her dead husband(she seems like the type of woman who would tell her present husband what the first one did to satisfied her in bed-no wonder kerry looks so hang dog all the time)than the widow of jim reeves...

Gee, I wonder if this is because the "traditional" press won't touch the story because of their own "leanings".

Well bugger me with a fish fork, looks like its true....
Alex Polier, the twenty-four year old journalist who could end Senator John Kerry's hopes of becoming the next president of the United States is alleged to have had a two-year affair with the front-runner for the Democratic nomination. Last night the rumours were in danger of becoming a full-blown scandal.

Funny, I listen to Hannity sometimes and the other day he was saying this wasn't an issue and we should be discussing Kerry's voting record. Although, I have heard Hannity bring up the silly picture of Kerry with Jane Fonda--an equally big 'who cares.'

While I do not know if Bush was AWOL, there definitely is something there in that story which Bush and his handlers don't want out in the open. They've been increasingly evasive for a reason. Should it be an issue? Probably not. But the Republicans lowered the bar for what makes an issue a long time ago so for them to complain about it now is simply hipocritical.

That's another tactic you right-wingers love to use, making the imagined accusation out to be a real one. What you "seem" to think about someone is simply in your own head and has no basis in fact, no matter how much you repeat it or how loud you shout it. I could just as easily state that Laura Bush "seems" like a brainless airheaded Stepford wife. That doesn't make it true.

Or maybe they don't touch it because there is no story there?

Let see On one side we have John"just a gigalo"Kerry who's been married 3 times to VERY rich women..You think its impossible Kerry was fooling around with a very pretty young coed..On the otherside you have George W Bush who provided dental records showing he was indeed in alabama..he also released his ENTIRE national guard record..must be a scandel with Bush and just everyones imagination with Kerry

So now its a crime to marry rich women? A "very pretty young coed"? I thought she was an AP reporter? Lots of bylines on the net. Bush, after lots of stonewalling, provides dental records (at least he availed himself of dental service while in the guard) and some paycheck stubs. Quite a record. Plus, even if he DID bother to show up, as ONE Republican now claims, he didn't even complete his full six years. Wow, how can Kerry, a decorated veteran who saved men's lives, compete with such a distinguished military career?

Well, from what I've seen the rumor-mongers have it wrong. She's not "very pretty." "Moderately attractive," maybe.

    Who brought up MS. Fitzgerald?

And we always knew that Bush----and his teeth---were in Alabama. The question is ws he reportign for reserve duty or working ona senate campaign. In the absence of any evidence one way or the other I will asssume he was fulfilling his reeserve duty.

I agree. But whether you're a Republican or a Democrat, I hope we focus on more critical issues than allegations like these or even where Dubya spent some of his time in the reserves. With our country absolutely swimming in debt, with a whole bunch of folks out of work let alone covered by health care, don't we have bigger issues to talk about??

Bush would rather have people talking about Kerry's sex life and even his own guard experience than the budget. BTW, how do you feel about using taxpayer funds to publish a campaign brochure for George? This year's budget comes complete with 27 glossies of the president. George teaching kids to read. George helping a woman in a wheelchair in front of the Washington Memorial, etc. Just something to distract readers from the bad news in the budget.

I have to agree that this is probably Kerry's own campaign leaking these rumors. They must have polls saying he needs to increase his sax appeal.

Happy go lucky did in post # 29

People are upset that GWB was evading the war while honest middle class boys were dieing almost daily.

Other people are upset that JFK was vocally protesting the war while honest middle class boys were dieing daily.

But wasn't it JFK who said:

"What saddens me most is that Democrats, above all those who shared the agonies of that generation, should now be refighting the many conflicts of Vietnam in order to win the current political conflict of a Presidential primary."

    In a speech before congress?

    He also said:

"We do not need more division. We certainly do not need something as complex and emotional as Vietnam reduced to simple campaign rhetoric. What has been said has been said, Mr. President, but I hope and pray we will put it behind us and go forward in a constructive spirit for the good of our party and the good of our country."

The next nine and a half months are going to be really interesting don't you think.

Nine and a half months of bush spending his $200 million saying the same thing over and over. It will be like a cross of the movie Groundhog Day and the Meet the Press interview with Tim Russert.
