You probably won't care if you do not live in the Portland DMA but if you do I just noticed that KOIN(CBS) is listed as SD and HD in the D* guide.

I don't show it in my receiver guide but I hope this means it's coming soon.

It looks like they are showing other HD locals that are not offered in their guide as well.

    Darn. Got my hopes up.

I was just on the New Vision TV site yesterday trying to figure out when the official transition occurs, but it still shows "acquisition pending."

So I think nothing will happen until New Vision fully takes control. I hope.

I was looking at that the other day as well. I noticed that the time between them getting one of their stations and then officially anouncing that the deal was completed took about 5 months. Ouch. That would put us somewhere in December.

Another thing to note is that thay were just getting one station at that point and this time they are getting 4. So, I don't know if that will make it take longer or not.

Either way, I don't understand why it's in the D* guide if we don't have it.

I just switched from E to D. I am pleased with the new HD lineup and am pleased I made the switch, except having to watch KOIN in SD. Which D guide are you refering to. Hope D can reach an agreement with the new owners soon!!!

Found the guide, both channels 6 (KOIN) and Ion are listed twice as if their were HD feeds.

The TV listings section on the D* website shows an HD and SD version of KOIN.

From the head engineer at KOIN on Monday this week.

"Negotiations with DirecTV went on hold last spring when KOIN and its sister stations were put up for sale. We expect the sale to close within the next couple of weeks and the new owner is aware that this needs to be addressed. Since they cannot legally communicate directly with us until the sale is complete (FCC rules forbid it) we do not know their exact timetable."

Wow, sounds like some reasonably good news. Thanks.

I would imagine that the sale will be finshed at least by the end of the year.

From the New Vision TV site, KOIN and Portland will be the highest DMA for them (23), so I would fully expect them to try and get us HD as quickly as possible.

I think Portland is the highest DMA without all of the "Big 4" in HD..... would be nice to pick up the CW, too!

I would also like to see D* pick up comcast sports network northwest which is due to launch on November 1st.

They currently carry all of the CSN's except for philly. I think CSN New England is launching the same day.

    We'll see.

Not that they care about me, but I stopped watching news on KOIN because of this reason. The only show I watch on CBS now is NFL.
