Seriously we just got to accept & deal with a whole lot of members in here who are outside of the Lakers DMA Zone and have this channel because they are subscribed to D*'s "sports package" aren't probably ever going to be happy with the channel's programming and will always feel the need to voice their complaints over the price of the channel.Oh well.If you don't like it then don't subscribe to D* "sports package" nobody is forcing you to subscribe to it.

I say that because I've been noticing that the most vocal members about the cost & programming of this channel which is only about 2 months old are people mainly outside of the Lakers DMA coverage zone.

Also I watch NBATV a lot and they are literally the king & home of dumb infomercial commercials. The channel itself has slowly improved with the amount of original programming with shows like "Open Court" and "The Association" which is similar to "Backstage Lakers" where NBATV follows & covers a NBA team behind the scenes for a season which is broken up into about 10 half hour episodes.

I have a problem with TWC NOT showing replays OF LAKER ORIENTED NEWS by only showing Kareem's live unveiling ceremony only one time while showing multiple repeats of Lakers/Suns, Lakers access, etc. This is supposed to be the Lakers channel, there are many people who want to tape it or just view it again but can't because they keep showing the same damn thing. Lakers play Houston tonight, same thing, Lakers access, Lakers pre-game, Lakers/Rockets, Lakers post game, rinse, lather, etc.
The Kareem ceremony should be shown more than once because it's a once in a lifetime moment......a moment that will echo for many years to come.

As one who is getting somewhat impatient with the wait for CSN Houston, if this were a different thread, I'd normally say something to the effect of "Stop the gloating and shut the heck up!;)", but given that this is the Lakers thread, I'll simply offer my congratulations and my wishes that those in the Houston DMA can soon enjoy their own team action!

    Yeah I understand your frustration.

Hopefully D* reaches an agreement with them.

But there seems to be bad blood between Comcast & D* since they don't carry the Comcast RSN channels in Houston, Portland, and Philly.

I grew up in Southern California, so much of my youth was spent watching Jerry West, Gail Goodrich, Wilt Chamberlain, Happy Hairston, and Elgin Baylor, among others, at the Fabulous Forum or listening to Chick Hearn's incomparable radio broadcasts. I'm just jealous that the Lakers are back on DIRECTV and the Rockets aren't. ;)

Good evening ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to the Great Western Forum! No stadium announcer quite as good as Mr. Tanner. No broadcast announcer as good as Chick! Many great memories and a few tears for me at the Forum.

Do you think TWCSN will show some classic vintage games from the Forum?

I'd like to see some of the games from the mid 90's with Nick Van Exel, Eddie Jones, Shaq, & of course Mr. Bryant! Another cool cat I'd like to see, Cedric Cebalos. Good times!

His name is Lawrence Tanter and he still works as the arena announcer at Staples Center.

I think you are wholly overreacting. It's a new channel; it's not going to have a significant amount of programming. So what if other RSNs started out with highlights shows? They were generally some crappy FSN highlights show. I don't see a reason to get so worked up about it when all you have to do is put on ESPNews to catch the highlights.

Which brings us right back to the point that kept the channel off DirecTV for so long. To anyone other than a die-hard Lakers fan, the channel is not worth $0.02. Outside of the Lakers territory, the games are blacked out, and other than the games, there is nothing on the channel. At least Fox Sports South has SEC football and basketball and ACC basketball (they also have ACC football, but in recent years, "ACC Football" has been an oxymoron).

Maybe I'm spoiled. My two non-FSN channels had more programming from day one than a slick channel based in the center of the entertainment industry. I can understand how they can't find the talent to put on simple things like highlight shows as they cannot find anyone capable of doing it as a new channel.

I only pointed out a flaw. Those overreacting are those who think I was taking a position that the channel is evil or something.

I believe they showed Game 7 of the '88 Finals vs Detroit a few weeks ago. So, I'm pretty sure they'll air more of the classic games at the Forum. However, what I really hope they would do is to show the footage with Chick announcing the games, rather than the national broadcast.

15,000 points for a foreign-born NBA player. That's pretty select company: Hakeem, Dominique, Ewing, Dirk, Duncan, Nash, Rolando Blackman, Kiki Vandeweghe, Detlef Schrempf and now Gasol.

Along with his other accolades in the NBA and his international play, do you think that punches his ticket to the Hall of Fame?

You mean you don't enjoy Dick Stockton and Tommy Heinsohn, and their unflappable biases favoring the Celtics? I watched game 6 of the 85 finals, and those guys were a piece of work, I had forgotten how bad it was.

I saw that replay late on this past Saturday or Sunday and it was nice seeing it again.

That 1985 championship run meant so much to every past & current member of that team that year because we finally beat Boston and they stuck it to them and celebrated on their home floor at the old Boston Garden. The Lakers to this day are the only team to clinch a championship on Boston's home court !

My Dad & Uncles always have fond memories and told me stories about that years Laker championship run and how much it meant to them.

For me though and for a lot of the new generation Laker fans avenging the embarrassing 2008 NBA Finals loss to the C's and winning a unforgettable 2010 Game 7 on our home court was just incredible and will last forever.

That's my favorite championship ever. My father was on his last days from fighting cancer. He "hated" (in a fun way) my serious fandom of Kobe. We'd always watch championships together, but he was to ill this time. He was so happy I had the Lakers to watch at such a hard time to escape reality.

The morning of June 16th, I told him the Lakers forced a game 7.

The Lakers won game 7 on June 17th and I told him the great news late that night on the morning hours of June 18th, but he was barely conscious.

Later, the night of the 18th, my Dad passed away...
