    I'm not.

I already have an appointment for TWC to install service on 9-29.

After I pay my D* bill on 9-25 service will be SUSPENDED on 9-29.

Won't come back to D* until they have an agreement to carry these channels.

Went into to my local TWC office today which is less than 3 miles from my house.Confirmed my appointment for 9-29.

Only costing me $47 for 1 month for 1 HD box.No contract.Did not have to pay a installation fee and didn't have to put a deposit down.

My D* bill is about to go up next month if I don't cancel HBO, Cinemax, Starz, Showtime, Encore and the HD extra pack. The 3 month free trial period is about to end.

I will call in on 9-26 and remove all of those services and also the Filipino channel which is another $25 a month since my Mom is currently in the Philippines.

Then D* service gets suspended on 9-29.

So yup D* is losing a lot of business from me because of this situation.

I have TWC for Internet. I can say that I am very pleased with their service and I never paid full price for service during the entire 6 years I have been with them. Every time my promotional offer is up, they always give me another deal. Now I have RoadRunner Ultimate (50/5) for only $40/month for 2 years.

I have also never paid full price for DirecTV service the whole 10 years I have been with them. I am currently getting $30/month off my bill for 2 years.

TWC always call and ask if I would be interested in their TV and/or phone service. I tell them I have Ooma and pay $0/month and I have DirecTV and am very happy. If I ever lose my promotional deals with DirecTV and TWC can match everything I have with DirecTV for less money, then I may consider them.

    TWC is not that bad.

What I don't understand are all the threats and claims of it already being a "situation." The channel hasn't even launched yet! Folks are reacting as if DirecTV has declined an offer to carry it.

The ONLY provider set to offer this channel happens to own it. Haha

Ture, but all of the cable companys had contracts in place before the Pac 12 Network launched. No reason why you can't have a contract in place before the channel launches, to make sure all of your ducks are in a row so that you can flip the switch when the channel goes live.

Well, that's on TWC. They haven't managed to ink a single deal.

Iwantmylakers.com is being advertised by TWC. Saw add on KCBS (ch. 391 or ch. 2) last night.

From what I have been able to find, yes. Not a single deal. TWC doesn't count obviously, since they own the channel.

They seem to be perfectly fine with that as well. While the PAC-12 was overjoyed at having signed so many deals so early, TWC appears to believe it will put pressure on these other providers. I for one think it will just put pressure on TWC. The Lakers are counting on them to perform and come through will solid distribution.

Now these other providers cannot work together to turn the screws on TWC, but they have to be aware that there will be a power shift once the season starts.

They control 80% of the Lakers DMA in cable service.... They aren't in any hurry. (Then there is 10% Cox in south OC and parts of San Diego, and some Charter in Long Beach and other areas. Hawaii is TWC, much of the Desert is TWC, Las vegas is Cox)

U-Verse, FIOS, Dish and DirecTV are direct competitors. I see them inking deals with Charter and Cox as they aren't direct competitors, and that makes it harder still for the other ones to get a deal.

    See the PAC12 situation.

Given the way Comcast and Cablevision have thumbed their noses, diddled, and delayed --for years-- in similar situations, I wouldn't count on it. The Lakers will pay lip service, express sorrow for those who can't get TWC for whatever reason. . . and cash the checks.

Maybe not. Maybe TWC will play it straight. I just wouldn't count on it going that way.

Dude, shouting with extra large bold type isn't going to change the situation.

When you call on the 29th to cancel Directv, they'll get your message, and if enough other Lakers fans do the same, it might change Directv's position. But for now, they haven't found a deal that's acceptable to them. Just remember, Directv has to get a deal that works for the company and all it's customers, not just you.

    Somewhere...
He is right. They use this tactic anytime a station is about launch and they don't like the terms they are being offered and are hoping the terms change before launch. Pac 12 network is all the proof you need. They kept saying they would have an update closer to school starting.
