Kinfolk who visit a couple times a year are enjoying D* so much that I'd like to swap out older 2-tuner HR in the guesthouse for our HR34 - but, only if there's a likelihood of getting an HR44 for our living room as replacement,

I know corporate won't consider that to be an upgrade - but, I'm open for suggestions from y'all on the best [cheapest] way to go about this.

More than likely have to buy from outside company and self install. Customers limited to one Genie per account.

Since you have a Genie already, you can't add a 2nd, unfortunately.

You can replace, of course, but not add a second Genie at this time.
    Would Genie client(s) help?

Going through an outside company won't help. DirecTV's policy would still apply.

You can't! DirecTV still hasn't approved the used of two Genies in a single household.

I want two too. Hoping next year it will be allowed.

Thanks a bunch. Adding "terminals" won't work. Separation always made hardwire comm unlikely. I even run a separate wifi network for the guest house. It has its own D* dish. All on one account. I just deactivate for the several months/yr no one is visiting.

I'll survive the wait. It will drive my father-in-law's girlfriend crazy, though. Since I explained to her how we record so much variety in our living room.

Anyone know the reason behind D not allowing 2 Genies per household (maybe not enough to go around yet)??

There are Techincal reasons why two don work well together in certain setups.

Also there is speculation that trees some logistical billing issues as well.

Clients issues. MRV software issues. And supply. Heard them all, one time or another.

Dish has their 2 Hoppers worked out, why can't D* get 2 Genies worked out by now?

Certain posters on these boards seem to have two genies. Curious that.

Of course, of course. Equipment needs testing. Perhaps that's why others want two genies as well though.. You know, to test. :)

Just a thought, if by chance Direct would allow 2 Genies per account, would they then say you could only have 2 Genies and 3 DVRS ...
would you teally need to that may tuners ?

Yes, but wouldn't that imply that multiple Genies do work together though? Just saying... :)

You're saying three DVRs because of the 16 tuner limitation??

How would you split those three at the SWM16?
