It will be great to have the original L&O back.

Why was it scheduled to start in January in the 1st place ?

I think they are starting in January because they only got renewed for a short season. It isn't a full 26 episodes. Maybe about half that number.

It's just enough episodes to keep L&O on the air to see if Dick Wolf can (1) revive the show which has slumped in ratings and (2) give him a shot at Gunsmoke's record for the longest running series.

It will be interesting to see with McCoy in the big chair now. Will the legal side still revolve around his character?

I thought the delay in the start of the season was because they were going to move it to Sunday night, and with NBC Sunday Night Football it can't air in its destined timeslot until after the NFL regular season ends.

I could be mistaken about that... but if correct, then I would expect we could see a normal full season on a weekly basis without repeats... except of course if the season was shortened because of the writer's strike.

It was having ratings issues and uncertain of being renewed for Season 18. I suspect the reason for going to Sunday was to try and give it new life since Fridays were not working.

I believe the plan was to have a full compliment of episodes (20-something) and run throughout the winter and spring on Sundays. Thank goodness that it's back where it belongs: Wednesday nights at 2200.

While I have no clue about the actor who is set for the new ADA, the new detective (Jeremy Sisto) should be good. The two movies I remember in which Sisto had roles: "Grand Canyon" (played the teenage son of Kline and McDonnell) and "Without Limits" (played Frank Shorter).

    cheers

I am certainly looking forward to the new L&O season. Gonna miss that detective girl, though.

I wasn't planning on doing L&O:TOS (call it what you will) this year but I suspect I'll be hurting for new programming this winter.

As I remember L&O could not show any shows with Fred Thompson.
Clearly this didn't affect the reruns on other channels, but NBC has held off the "new" season.

Since he is running for an election, it was thought it would be a unfair advantage he would have over the others running.

I bet that idea came from the mainstream media.

Reflexively quote any political opinions lately?

No, it's not the media. It is the law. Ever heard of the Equal Time Rule? It isn't enforced as vigorously as it used to be but the spirit of the law is still upheld.

Implication being that I can't have my own thoughts? I am a lemming? I was not quoting anyone! I had not even heard that he was not supposed to appear on TV any longer. Never heard a single reference of it until the previous post. Sounds to me like you are thin skinned and I completely resent your accusation.

I don't think appearing as a rarely seen DA on a struggling show qualifes as political. But again, that is just my personal opinion. I stopped watching L&O 2 years ago.

BTW, in reading your links, I did not see anything that related to actors.
