Long time D* customer. Had 4 receivers and have been charged $18 ($6X3) for 3 additional receivers. Last month I removed a receiver and this month's bill am still being charged $18. My bill has $6 for Primary Leased Receiver and two others for $6 as Leased Receivers.

Is Directv charging for all Leased Receiver? I thought the first until was free of a lease charge.

It sounds like a billing snafu. I assume you have called Directv and asked about it, yes?

They always charge for all your receivers, the primary leased receiver should also have a credit further down on your bill to offset it's cost.

So your old bill should have had -

    Fees:
    Primary Leased Receiver $6
    Leased Receiver $6
    Leased Receiver $6
    Leased Receiver $6

    Adjustments & Credits:
    Primary Leased Receiver -$6

Your new bill should have -

    Fees:
    Primary Leased Receiver $6
    Leased Receiver $6
    Leased Receiver $6

    Adjustments & Credits:
    Primary Leased Receiver -$6

Your old bill should have charged you $24 then gave you a $6 credit. Your new bill should be charging you $18 and then give you a $6 credit.

Yup .. not exactly sure why it's done the way it's done, but they've always charged you for all receivers and then issued a credit for one (the primary) receiver. The net effect is that the first one is free. Probably done that way for tax reasons or something, but the bottom line should be the same either way.

Exactly why it is done that way. My state collects taxes on that $6. Then DirecTv gives me the $6 back. Government...

My bill has never shown a fee for the first receiver/dvr.

Owned receivers don't show a primary fee.

They also credit you back the tax...so it's a wash.

Thanks for all the feedback. As others had mentioned I never seen the Primary Lease Receiver on my bill until now. It does make sense however the receiver I removed was one I owned and my previous months bills only showed the "additional" receivers. The three remaining receivers are all leased and I believe that is why I am now seeing the Primary Lease Receiver. I did see the credit buried with many lines of other credits and fees when they removed my receiver. They credited and recharged me on programming when I removed the one receiver so I didn't see the receiver credit on first look.
