Yes you can have it shut off. If you get SD DNS approved and HD approved for that same affiliate then they dont charge for the HD version. But you are right there is no HD PBS. Personally I dont get why PBS is so popular.

Tell me about it. I had both NBC HD and CBS HD the local affiliates not respond after 30 days but when I called Directv to tell them to turn them on they gave me the 45 day line. Needless to day by the time the full 45 was up both stations had denied my request.

It's not that big of a deal as I can get both OTA but the NBC OTA is not 100% reliable due to topography of the area.

If you are eligible for distant networks call and ask for the HD distant network department. They will turn them on while you are on the phone. CSR's are supposed to know to transfer you there but not many do. They either don't know or would rather argue with you and say you need a waiver.

Under what circumstances will you have to pay? What is the charge?

What if you already have the Feeds from NY and LA and want to see about getting the CW feeds will they turn them on if i call or do you need a waiver with those networks too?

Its $3.50 for both the NY and LA SD DNS feeds. If you have the SD feeds and are approved for the HD feeds then there is no extra charge for the HD feeds. CW is $2.50 for both east and west coast feeds.

There is a waiver for everyone of them no matter what but if one says you are eligable then it does now take very long at all before its turned on. If it says your area is eligable then I think its pretty much you are pre-approved. You submit the waiver and they turn it on.
