I'm not sure on this one, but will I need the new 5lnb dish when we get local hd later this year. I think that we are getting local hd here in flint/saginaw (bay city) in September and want to be ready for it.

I'm talking my folks into going back to DIRECTV once it gets there. They live in Freeland.

Right now I have only a 3 LNB dish & I need to get a 5 LNB dish. I won't have to pay for it will I?

When I upgraded from non HD to my HR20, the 3 LNB dish is the one that they put up.

    * Also, I recieved a courtusy call from Direct TV to make sure I had my broadband converters attached so I will see all the new HD channels coming out soon.

Technically, the two newer dishes(AT9, AU-9) appear to only have 3 lnbs on them. Anyone got a link to the pictures again so he can determine if he really has the wrong dish or not?

There are 2, 5 lnb dishes, the AT9 and the AU9, to my knowledge the AT9 is no longer in production or being installed. The AU9 (5 lnb) wil say "Slimline" accross its face.

The official word from D* is that the Flint/Saginaw locals will be up by the end of this year. We are all hoping for better timing than this, as they were announced last year.

I just got an HR20 installed and they didn't put up the new 5lnb dish. I was told by the installer that I'm supposed to call DTV next month or whenever they begin adding the new channels to get the upgrade.

I'd like to get the locals in HD for WEYI and WSMH. I've been having trouble keeping their signals up with an antenna.

They should have installed the 5 LNB Dish. It makes no sense for them to have to come out again later this summer when the locals go active. In addition, all of the HD content coming in September (hopefully) will require the 5 LNB dish.

That's what I thought. But he said he didn't have one and I didn't push for one now. As long as it's free when they do come back out, it isn't a huge deal to me.

I have a question though about the locals. When they add our locals in HD, will there be an extra cost? I get the locals right now in SD. Are the HD versions included with those?

no there will be no extra cost as long as your currently receive your locals now
