Both "Longmire" and "The Glades" left us with cliffhangers, so I hope they get renewed. "Longmire" is A&E's most-watched scripted show with an average of about 5.4 million viewers. "The Glades" is doing ok.

Of course A&E's "Duck Dynasty" hit 11.8 million viewers in its season premier, a number NBC suits would die for.

Does the show stick with any kind of story line the books have? I guess Starbuck is a guy in the books from what I hear, did they have the male character have a stalker?

Saw my first Longmire for President bumper sticker the other day, kind of got a chuckle knowing the actor who plays him is an Aussie.

The actor may be a Aussie but the character is no more fictional than the image offered by anyone else who runs.

The character Vic played by Katee Sackoff is also female in the books. And no, she doesn't have a stalker in the books. In the books she is divorced and left Philly to start a new life. As the books move along she and Walt become involved. And I recall only one episode this season that was based loosely on one of the books. But then there are only 9 books thus far and each book has one main story line.

Walt, Vic, Henry Standing Bear, Cady Longmire, Ferg, Ruby, Omar and the previous sheriff are the only characters from the books. Several characters that are in more than one of the books are not in the series and vice versa. In the books Walt's wife died from cancer, Vic is divorced, Cady marries Vic's brother and moves to Philly. The first book gave a good insight into the back story of the friendship of Walt and Henry and how it developed from childhood.

I got a kick out of the movie marquee shown briefly in the last episode. The first movie listed, Serpent's Tooth is actually the title of the latest book in the series. I'm waiting anxiously for #10. A friend who lives in Sheridan, Wy knows the author, Craig Jonson. He recently told Johnson the problem with his books is they come out too far apart. :)

Remember the episode this season where Walt "went undercover" by changing his hat for a cap? The cap was from King Ropes in Sheridan. My friend in Sheridan sent me one but he had to wait a few weeks until they had more in stock. Sold out in a couple of days after that episode.

Thanks for the comparison. I like it when TV series are similar to the book series but not the same. I can "discover" the book series later and not have anything spoiled.

When you do discover the book series down the road, would you mind reading it out loud as a audio file so I can list to it? :righton:

Although I have read all the books I still enjoy this series. One of the best on now in my opinion. And the renewal is great news. Thanks.

Fantastic news, my only other hope would have been NetFlix picking it up

In passing I have to note that even though they picked up "Longmire", we learn today that "The Glades' was canceled. Maybe Netflix will pick it up? Probably not and I hate that they left it with a cliffhanger. Oh well...

I stopped watching the Glades during it's first season because there was to much romance it seemed. With NetFlix having the series older seasons I will try to watch it sometime down the road.
