After a long battle with drugs and bipolar my son died on Friday morning. We worked very hard for a long time to help but not enable him. This started with weed then prescription drugs then heron. The sad part is that this is so common today and many some Doctors write scripts all too fast and to people that do not take them as they should. We do not know for sure yet but he had a prescription with 60 pills and 13 were gone in 30 hours. A very sad time for us.

I am terribly saddened to learn of the loss of your son. I cannot imagine the depth of pain you feel. If I may ask, what is your son's name and how old was he? I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I lost a daughter to suicide last September. Today would have been her 25th Birthday. You really have to take care of yourself now. There will be brighter days.

So true. There are few things in this life more tragic than parents outliving a child. I can't even conceive of the void that would create.

Thanks for sharing that Phil. Hopefully provides some hope to PCampbell. Condolences to the both of you and your families. This puts into perspective how petty the things that get a lot of play on this board truly are.

What can a person say in times like this? Perhaps through your beliefs you can find some comfort in his being in a better place now his internal torment is over.

Be well and don't face it alone.

I think that's as horrible an experience as a human can go through.

If you're married, and you lose your spouse, you're a widow or a widower.
If you lose your parents, you're an orphan.
We don't have a word for when you lose your children.

Think about that. It's so horrible, we don't even HAVE a word for it...

PCambell and Phil T, You have my prayers and best wishes for your losses. I can not imagine your pain or your loss. I can only barely imagine the love of being a parent, and that is via being a grandparent. (My kids were adults when I met them.)

Yet through that love as a grandparent I finally have an insight to God/Yahweh/Father/Abba/Universe's LOVE for ALL OF US, including your children. Both of them are free of their pain and both are immersed directly in that incredible LOVE. My hope you find peace in these thoughts. Yes, grieve, you have tremendous losses. And remember they have gains--and you will see them again.

    Peace, prayers, and blessings,
    Tom
