Seems like it's setting the stage for them to be the home of the new NBA team and/or NHL team if either come to Seattle. Wonder if there's a response by CSN-NW?

That was quick... I thought the Mariners TV deal doesn't expire until the end of the 2015 season.

That's good news. The Mariners are about the only thing left on Root NW that I watch anymore. Well, besides Gonzaga basketball anyway. Sometimes, :)

17 years is a long time for a deal like this, isn't it?

I wonder if D* will go after the Trail Blazers when their contract is up with C*?

I would imagine they would. And I can only imagine that the Blazers would love to get off CSNNW.

This makes me think a channel realignment may actually happen. More and more individual regional sports, plus their alternative feeds, are getting tougher to house in the current channel range. (Rather than a 70-block or so, a 100-block.)

Fox Soccer / FXX likey will moved out of sports.

Fox sports 1 and 2 can be fitted near ESPN / NBC sports network.

    Can free up some room

And rarely do sports contracts like this get halfway through without massive changes or outright stoppage of the terms

If the Sacramento Kings move to Seattle and they get picked up by Root, would that make the Blazers on Root as well less likely to happen? I know the Blazers still have a few years with CSN-NW. 4 more?

Given the current channel mapping, that's where I was thinking DirecTV would locate the seven screens of Pac-12 Network. Say, begin on ch. 222. Run the rest up to ch. 228.

Even if they don't argue about this, they will find new things to argue about in the future with consumers the ones dealing with the fallout

My mind must be slipping can't think if a single time that's happened. Can you remind me? All the ones I hear about lately are for 15 to 20 years these days for many of the big three leagues teams. (Nfl doesn't count for this)

The Angels opted out of their deal when they signed Albert Pujols to get a better contract as well as equity in FSW. They aren't the only one.

That makes no sense. If DirecTV has only the national PAC-12 and game time alernates ilke Dish does, then it might make sense to have it in the 200s, but the six regional PAC-12 channels defenitely belong with the other regional channels in the 600s

I think what should happen is that if the channel is a basic channe nationally, then move it to the 200s. If it is only available outside the local market in the Sports Pack, keep it in the 600s. NBC Sports Network is 220, but Universal Sports (also owned by NBC Universal) is 625, so having the national PAC-12 feed in the 200s and the regional channels in the 600s would fit with that logic.

I think the alternates should be HD only. Next step in moving folks off mpeg2. Make the BTN alternates be 610-1, 610-2, 610-3. Maybe PAC 12 first. The main channel on 222, the alternates on 222-1, 222-2, etc. could do a lot to clean up the 600s.
