Windows media player or TVersity or whatever you are using also needs a check in it's box under the Firewall Exceptions tab..... If it is still running.

fiendz666 did you ever get this to work? I've gone through all the same steps and am having the same problem. Firewall is off. I can ping my HR20 but the only device on my network that the DVR can see is my HP MediaVault, which I'm not even using as a media server, just a backup device.

EDIT: In Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer, System, I had the error (red X) with WMPNetworkSvc in the source column. I followed the steps in WMP11- Some New Things To Try which did not work. However then I decided to delete all the files in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM since the error was reportedly caused by a corrupted DRM file, and that fixed the problem. My HR20 can now see my computer on the network.

Note that I have never purchased a DRM protected file in my life, and I probably never will so I had no problem deleting the contents of that folder. If you have DRM'ed media files you want to keep then it might not be such an attractive option, but it worked for me.

I use VistaU64 and MediaShare does not work. I can see all my files but none of them play on my DVR with WMP. They never have and never will.

You have to use TVersity or my favorite PlayOn. TVersity is too intrusive on the OS, you have to disable UAC, it kills WMP and because it kills WMP you can no longer share media with other network users. In fact I can't believe anyone uses TVersity. The only plus is that TVersity is free. But free is not enough for me to jump through the hoops and kill WMP.

PlayOn on ther other hand works just fine with WMP and you don't have to disable anything. My TV and my HR22-100 both work with PlayOn. The down side to PlayOn is that it cost $39.99 after a 2 week trial.

I still have not gotten it to work. I've tried with my firewalls turned off. I've tried everything that was suggested on this site.

No idea why it won't work.
