Okay, so I called DirecTV expecting to go through all their scripted troubleshooting steps until finally they would schedule a replacement Genie. BUT, incredibly there was a solution found! The solution was to have the Genie and TV powered up and then turn off the TV while the Genie was still on. Wait a minute and then turn the TV back on. Presto, issue resolved! They told me doing this forced the HDMI to reset. I have no idea with all the things I tried this reset never happened previously. Learn something every day...
