Just saw Directv is taking orders for MLB Extra innings.
215.94 x 1 payment or
35.99 x 6
I tried to get a discount, but because I'm still getting the new deals and rebates plus I got NFL free last season and 50 of NHL CI, and 50 off NBA LP,
I wasn't able to get a lower amount.
I wasn't complaining.
So I, just chose the 35.99 x6 option, and paid it with Feb bill, so 1 down 5 to go.
I just tried it today on my laptop and on my PS3. It's just not on the level of Directv HD. I really like the radio audio option on MLB.TV but the video quality just isn't up to snuff for me.
And FYI. When i got my 2nd Panny Viera 1080p TV I put it side by side with the other Viera i purchased a year before to compare picture qualities. I also did a test with my Roku player b/c i was always amazed at the pic quality. So i put in a blu ray disc on one tv and started a movee on amazon on demand on my Roku player on the other TV and saw absolutely no difference. So there's my evidence i did a side by side comparison. Have u ever done a side by side comparison????
What this is really all about is i found a less expensive alternative to DTV MLB EI. And can watch it with equal pic quality. The DTV worshippers just love to jump on people who have any complaint with DTV or when they find a better alternative.
What size screen are you using? Quite often PQ debates leave out critical information such as the screen size, which without, PQ evaluations are meaningless. The smaller the screen size the less difference in PQ you're likely to see.
I have a 73" Mits CRT RPTV with 9" guns and I've used MLB.tv with a PS3 and there is absolutely no way I would ever confuse the 2 sources. MLB.tv PQ is far, far inferior to Blu-ray PQ, it's no contest.
I'm glad though that the quality you are getting is making you happy as that is really the bottom line, what ever works for you.
Anyone who thinks roku matches Blu ray or that MLB tv matches EI is just plain blind. Or just can't see the difference. The numbers do not lie. While roku streams have gotten quite good for tv and movies (they get close to regular hd but not Blu ray for some things) and the SD is better than directv (what SD isn't?), the live game streaming is full of artifacts and blur motion. No bandwidth is going to fix it as the stream itself is limited.
Guys, I see buying it from mlb.tv is much cheaper. Can I get this via Google tv? It's not one of the listed devices.......but it's supposed to be a computer and thus available on a PC. Thanks

I'm a dual sub of both packages have been for years.
Both packages have their pluses and minuses.
Plenty of factors that vary from Sub to Sub. Budget, Lifestyle viewing Preferences.
Not knocking anyone for their own personal choice.
That said the Quality of the TV Picture is much better with the EI package vs MLBTV, No matter the Internet Speed, TV Configuration or other venue to watch MLBTV, be it roku, PS3 or any other streaming option.
I've seen MLBTV through any and all venues Picture is good nothing more and nowhere close to the EI package.

Agreed. I use MLB on my roku for some games and often just to catch a specific inning or event from an archived game. It is great fir that. Mostly, though, MLB on my roku is a side benefit of MLB for my iPad. I go to about 100 games each summer (mostly minor leagues) and I use my iPad to watch portions of games when I am out of the house. On the iPad screen (or iPhone), the PQ is wonderful because of the size.
If PQ didn't drive me crazy, I might be able to stomach MLB on my tv for games I can get on EI. And some can and do. But I cannot.
Meanwhile, I hammer my Roku fir old TV shows and documentaries. Not so much for movies.
I subbed to MLB.TV and have attempted to use it through my Samsung Blu Ray player app and I keep getting an error message. Anyone else experiencing this?
I have probably flipped about 5 times in the last 2 weeks on this
I finally caved in today and split with my father on a MLB.TV package that way we can watch the games at our work, home, etc....as I use my AppleTV for MLB watching
Is MLB going the way of the NBA and NHL forcing you to watch the bottom line annoying fly in advertisement filled MLB Network rebroadcasts of RSN games or is this Marlins-Yankees game I'm getting blacked out on Fox Sports Florida just a fluke?

Pre-season and regular season are different. Once the regular season starts, you should get all out-of-market games other than Saturdays during the day, when FOX has their national broadcasts.
The only issues that seem to plague Extra Innings on DirecTV are obviously when neither team playing has a broadcast (like when the Reds and Pirates play each other and neither team is televising), or when other teams don't have a feed, like when the Angels, Cubs, White Sox, etc. are on local stations only...also early in the season with the Masters, NHL, and NBA still going on, they have a myriad of problems with the guide. Most notably, they'll say that a game is coming on, and then it won't be on. I don't have a huge problem with not seeing a game that D* doesn't have a feed of, but I don't want them to put it in the guide and fool me.
That said, as the season goes on, it gets much better, and the picture quality is always great...provided the broadcast is actually in HD, as most of them are.

Just called again (first called early Feb. and was offered nothing) did the cancel, cancel routine and the Retention Rep explained all 4 of my slots on the account were taken up with credits so all he could do was offer a $25 credit. I explained the MLB.tv price and he was ultimately able to give me a $50 credit.
While I would have liked more, at $159, the $34 difference is worth it for the PQ, worry-free viewing, and MLB Network (I am on the Family Plan.)

What I'm trying to get it, if you have NHL Center Ice or NBA League Pass and the game you want to watch is on NHL Network or NBA TV (assuming you aren't in the teams market) you are blacked out from watching the RSN broadcasts.
Last year if you had MLB Extra Innings and the game you wanted to watch was on MLB Network you could still watch the game on the RSN. I'm just worried this changed recently because the FS Florida broadcast was on MLB Network and I was blacked out of the FS Florida broadcast on FS Florida.
I despise watching games (errr constant stats and advertisements) on any of the pro-networks.
My MLBEI Channels are not showing in any menus - I know they are in the 720's per the D* website. Anyone else have an issue or are they not up yet? Or is my senility kicking in. And yes I am subscribed.

Well maybe you are senile but the MLBEI channels are not showing up for me yet either, and I'm also a EI subscriber. I don't see tonight's Marlins-Cards game being televised on any of the RSNs either.
**EDIT** Nevermind. Tonight's game is on ESPN I see.

They never map WGN to a MLB EI channel. WGN broadcasts do not require MLB EI sub, same as ESPN.
