And if they do, it'll likely be one channel right now, and pick up all the other sports to promote them as much as possible. It won't be like the pac12 based on that. At least not at first.

ESPN will very likely have some sort of equity stake in any SEC Network in exchange for adding to the volume of Games that will be available.

Also adding a 9th Conference game will help increase inventory.

Just like Fox has ownership equity in the Big Ten Network.

I do very much agree the SEC will much more closely resemble the Big Ten Model versus the Pac 12 Model.

That is the link that goes with that announcement.....

Looks like PAC12 is having LOTS of success with cable providers so far.

And we probably won't.... usually channels stay in "test" for 1 to 2 weeks (but it has been as little as 2 days), so if it is absolutely imperative you have PAC12 by the August 15th start date, you might have to make the call your cable provider this week.

My guess is that they won't got to an agreement till the week before the first live sports start, with carriage in the last week of August or so.

Not surprising. The idea of a PAC12 network makes a lot of sense and the model they are using fits well for cable. Some customers will be disappointed when they find they may not be able to get all of the "network" but still the cable model works well for most.

Well none of us really knows what is going on. The more providers = more pressure on Directv. I really do not want to switch...but it's really up to Mike White of Directv right now. He either gets himself and his team off the pot or he loses customers....and Directv is just rolling off it's 1st quarter ever of losing customers.....and maybe White will add to that mix with a 2nd quarter of loses - or not.

I really wouldn't worry about the lack of announcements. We just saw how they really didn't announce the soccer and basketball channels for the Olympics until they almost started. That's the true mo. I wouldn't do anything if I were anyone here until just before the first game and even then I probably at most suspended my direct TV account and add a different carrier until I knew for sure because it wouldn't surprise me if DirecTV launches this on the day before the first game.

Hello all, this is just wishful thinking, but I was looking at all the D TV channels and came upon 9547 PTNW. It says starting at 3 am on 8/8 a segment with Mike White, that is titled "Good News." It may not have anything to do with P12N, but here's hoping it is.

PTNW are "Private Networks" for internal DirecTV channels, and/or news, training, etc going towards their installers and whatnot.... Good News can mean anything, for instance that the company picknick is still on. :D

I see it as just one more network asking for money. How much will Directv have to pay per subscriber for this network? Weren't we getting enough Pac12 games before? Why do we suddenly need an entire new network sucking up bandwidth and charging more money? If they pass the cost along to me with a price increase then I am against adding it. The madness must stop at some point.

However, if they add it only to the sports pack or make it a stand alone channel that subscribers pay extra for, I'm fine with that. Then those of us who don't want it won't have to pay for it. But if they add it to my Choice Extra package and charge me more, then I'm against it.

I agree, I was happy before the PAC-12N since I could see just about all the games in the conference. I hope they get this done quickly.

Well for football & probably basketball we HAD better access before the Pac 12 Network....but we didn't get all the other sports, so I guess that is what is being thrown at us.

Some games weren't televised, before, if there was another team on the regional carrier, sometimes the local team did not get the game. Now this won't happen.

Directtv will pick it up, didn't someone already say that TWC was already playing dirty in the LA area?
