You are correct...but the quote is from FRIDAY...

Here is an article from the Seattle Times...a newspaper...

"I spent some time Friday on the phone with Pac-12 Enterprises president Gary Stevenson - he heads the fledgling Pac-12 Networks, now 10 days old - and we'll get first to what everybody really wants to know off the top.

Will DirecTV get on board with this, a deal that's been reported to be close? That would mean an additional, potential 20 million households for the Networks, which are at 48 million in that category.

"I wouldn't characterize it as close or imminent," Stevenson said, otherwise holding to his previous take that the content is appealing on the Networks, and "when fans want to have (good) content in today's television world, they get it."

I am sure that THIS is the source of the blog post...

Next up...Swanni quoting dbstalk, where directv employees and insiders regularly post information, says PAC 12 network not imminent.

    Then someone will quote Swanni.

    LOL.

For all of the PAC 12 fans who leave DirecTV over this issue, I understand your position, and I would probably do the same thing. Leave, and subscribe to whomever can bring you the programing you want. Just be realistic and rational, and do not pin the decision not to carry the PAC 12 networks solely on DirecTV. DirecTV may not be the best choice for you, but the blame for the networks not being on DirecTV lies squarely on the PAC 12. The PAC 12 is asking for too much (7 CONUS spots plus some amount of money per viewer) for it to be in the best interest of DirecTV to carry the channels.

I hope that the two sides do reach an agreement. Sometimes I am up past midnight and would rather watch a live PAC 12 game than a replay of an SEC, Big East, ACC, or Big 10 game, but I understand why DirecTV feels that they will lose more by paying the PAC 12 too much to carry the network than they will by losing PAC 12 fans to other providers if DirecTV does not carry the networks.

For all of you that live and die by the Gary Stevenson quotes, here's another:

"We are working on it. We are working on it daily," Gary Stevenson, chief executive officer for Pac-12 Networks, said of the negotiations.

He wouldn't predict whether a deal gets done before Thursday afternoon, when the network airs its first football game at the University of Utah, or by Saturday night when it televises the University of Washington contest with San Diego State.

As Swanni did not seem to quote anything not already here, I think he is still using dbstalk for his research.

He does that all the time. He probably is too much of a "HD tabloid" to actually get interviews going with PAC12 and/or DirecTV, and have a exclusive, like some of the newspapers have or some of the sports commentators/bloggers have.

I have a feeling that the reason that less and less information is leaked here by DirecTV internals, is actually directly Swanni's fault. They don't want their usernames out there on a website like that.

In any case.... it gets too close for comfort right now with testing the channels and bringing them back up live. It might still happen, but I would have alternatives IN PLACE by Wednesday (48 hours from now) if the Thursday game is a *MUST SEE* for you.

Hint: If you know a friend with cable, even if he/she lives far far away.... if he/she trusts you enough with his username/password, you can use it to access any of the PAC12 stuff online.

    I don't need a feeling. I know that is a reason.

I did that with my son. He has TWC. Only problem is that he doesn't have the required sports pack subscription and thus I cannot access any "live" content. Only their on demand videos, which do not include games. He can't afford the extra money and I am too cheap to fund him...

Moral of the story...come on DirecTV!!!

Folks, let's back up and remember to be polite to each other. Punctuation or not, profanity and rudeness is not appropriate here.

As for Mr. Swann... I will give him credit in the last year for giving the source of a lot of his news.

Hey, I have been saying the same thing. If the football games coming up this weekend are important to you, you better have some alternatives in place within the next 48 hours or so.

Here's the thing: Most cable companies allow month-to-month, some even have a 30 day money back guarantee. I actually did this with TWC back when I needed to wait for the DirecTV install date. Got cable TV and Internet. Waited for DirecTV and U-verse Internet to be installed. Went to cable outlet with equipment and said, not satisfied, please give me my 30 day money back guarantee.

It actually ended up costing me absolutely nothing. I had not paid the bill yet at that point, so they just cancelled out the bill, and 2 weeks later TWC sent me a bill that said I owe $0 and $0 is now due. :D

You can cancel the install if DirecTV comes through, you can cancel cable after they set it up. Worst case, you pay one month of cable, and it is pretty much always pro-rated to the time you actually used it.

This is not about "promoting cable business", and quite frankly.... you could have brought it a little more polite as well. This is simply about getting an alternative UNTIL DirecTV signs the deal. I think everyone here knows they WILL sign a deal, but they will hold off to the last moment to get the best possible deal. And from a technology point of view, it could mean the first weekend of football won't be shown on DirecTV.

I don't care... I will wait. Some people have claimed they either CAN'T wait or WON'T wait, and those people have been told to have an alternative ready for weeks now.

But.... most of those people probably have powerful wives who would make a queen-of-the-house ruling saying that it is ridiculous to get a cable installer in the house for maybe 2 football games that aren't on other networks. She will tell you to go clean out the garage that weekend. :D

Yes, but you do not use the "it's doomsday DirecTV sucks" better switch to cable now approach. And then repeat the mantra every 2-3 posts.

@BusterAvis is a troll with an obvious agenda...he adds zero to this board.
