And likely one shared by anyone who follows college football.

He's not entitled to an opinion? We all spend a lot of time here because we love DIRECTV and want this Pac12 thing to happen. No one knows when or if it happens, lets be civil. We're all friends here...

I wouldn't bet on that. Just because teams are ranked or happen to be from a handful of different conferences doesn't mean I have any intrest in them, but teams like Washington and Washington State I do. I don't care who they are playing. That doesn't matter.

I wouldn't bet on that. I think some are rooting for only the Longhorn network and could care less about other sports networks that have less interest to them.

Well, there's a reason that only 3 are ranked.

I follow college football very closely. Again, why the personal comments?

Maybe I'm naive, but I was thinking the best of people's intention on this blog, considering it was about the Pac12

I have LHN now on Uverse, that's got nothing to do with it.

I love the UofA and would love to see them if I wanted.

The statment was in general, but having said that I think some here want one of the two or both. I can't forget those out there who want neither of them.

Some here just can't face reality. As you know I love the UofA but know they don't stand a chance at being a BCS team.

    +1

Maybe hold up a few days on the "Larry Scott is an effing genius" diatribes.

I hope Pac 12 and D can come to a deal but for all the suppositions above I'm afraid the Quartet of Founding Cable Partners took advantage of their position and in the pricing structure and granting of streaming rights.

Good for the Cable Companies and smart business to be sure. Kudos

For the Pac 12 and any possible DBS customers, bad news.

Seven Channels was and is a bad idea from the word go.

Only helps to make the Network less desirable on a National basis and therefore seen by less customers in the Long run.

Like I said a very shrewd play by the Cablers.

Maybe this is a good time to review the Forum rules that we all agree to abide by. I have been rightfully reminded of them earlier this week.

I am not a moderator...at the same time, I believe everyone here has the obligation to try to keep these threads on topic and civil. Here are some of what I believe to be pertinent items:

    (8) While disagreement is normal for any web discussion board and DBSTalk encourages a wide variety of viewpoints, outright personal attacks on other members as determined by the moderators or administrators of DBSTalk will not be tolerated.

    (h) All off topic discussions that don't break any of the above rules will get moved to The OT forum so it may continue. If a thread is moving along productively and is suddenly "spammed" by someone for no good reason, the individual message will get deleted and the thread will stay in place (Spam in this case means an off topic very harsh attack on other people, a comment that doesn't serve any purpose except to disrupt the thread or links to other web sites or forums that give the appearance of advertising). The administrator reserves the right to leave any off topic thread in any forum if he feels it's serving a valuable purpose.

    (i) This is a free speaking forum but not a free-for-all. Most posts will not get deleted unless they break one of the rules listed above. If everyone respects each other, there won't be any problems. Remember, this is not a newsgroup!

    (j) Some profanity is allowed but please be aware that foul language may be edited at any time by the moderators if we feel it necessary to do so. This is a family oriented board and we would like to maintain some level of decency. Each violation will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Basically, just use common sense and have some respect for your reader.

Yeah they could, but that would anger the real money players.

What people need to realize is that the Pac-12's customer isn't the viewer but rather the MSO's. They stand to make alot of money if every MSO carries their network. As such, they agree to not sell their product directly to the viewer in exchange for large per-subscriber fees.

Look at the Viacom debacle, half of DirecTV's complaints were that Viacom offered their product on Netflix and Hulu, thus devaluing their worth.

If content owners bypass the MSO's, the MSO's will simply cut them out. Why should DirecTV, Comcast, etc, reward networks with all those cash payments if the networks are willing to bypass them?

I wish more people understood the hypocrisy of the media owners. All the talk about how evil providers like D* not providing games to the viewers is BS. They had the capability to provide access to every single viewer that wanted to view their content. They choose not to. As mws192 pointed out, they don't give a crap about people that want to watch the game. They want MSO $$.

My thoughts on this are, that it is frustrating that the network is not on, but I totally understand Directs point of view on this. Times are tough, and unfortunately they will get worse.

So what, that is YOUR opinion. Different people watch different things. Just because YOU think so is irrelevant. Who cares what you think?

So what, his opinion matters because he has someone in his family goes to WSU vet school? What does his opinion have to do with anything?
