I've read about the concerns of mounting the AT9 on a roof. Would there be any advantage to mounting it on a tripod rather than using the j-mount? I must put in on my roof and am trying to figure out the best way to do this.

Installers in NY mounted my AT9 on my roof yesterday, no problem - it is well anchored directly onto a stud. My previous triple dish was in the exact same spot.

Caulked where old dish mount penetrated roof to seal, new braket is larger and more than covered the space.

    Working fine!

Why not use 2 monopole with J mount to make a tripod? These monopole come in 2 sizes. Some tripod do not allow use of 2in pipe for new dish and also tripod brings dish farther away from roof and maybe not as stable as low mounted J with monopoles.
