My first bill was 9/16/2012. Our house was on the market but DTV told me don't worry about it as they will work with me. The day has come for us to move into a new home (in late July) so what are they chances they will work with me? Sorry if I have not posted in the right area. Also, does my 12 months end 9/16/2013 ? Thanks.

You need to call DirecTV Movers office. They will be able to tell you if you qualify for their program.

What 12 months are you talking about? New customer contracts are 24 months long, not 12.

Your 12 months may end then, but your original agreement would most likely have been 24 months, not 12. Just call and tell them you need to setup a movers connection, it wil lmost likely be free or very nominal for a move. you won't know until you call and see.

Thanks for the comments. I understand about the 24 months, but I heard you get 1 move in 12 months, so just was not sure if it was the time I made my 12th payment or after my 12th payment ran out.

The free movers is after you complete 12 months of consecutive service

You should never have to bring your old dish with you.....that seems odd.

They were going to charge $20 to ship a new dish.. Old one was pole mounted in the back yard, so it was an easy way to save $$, always helpful when moving into a new house..

DirecTV never ships dishes. Sounds like an excuse to justice the moving fee

Not sure what craziness you're talking about.

The amount? Right at the top of the Mover's page it says "Save up to $500. Qualified customers only" and then in the small print at the bottom, it says "Offer available once in any 12 month period for qualifying customers only. Qualifications based on tenure, package level, payment history and other factors."

That save up to also reflects billing/bundle discounts that may or not be available to them...

And yes I've had the same where customers have been quoted $300 for a move and we go and do it for about half.

I've had to advise movers in the case where they sold their existing home prior to the new one being finished and therefore winding up in temporary quarters for a few months as to which move do they want to be the 'free' one.

In that case, I did the prewire on the new house (easy before the drywall) and the free move was to the temporary quarters as it was an old shack I didn't want to work on, LOL, I'm getting fussy.

Did get a tiny bit of minor flack from D* when we called in the second change of address, with out them having done the install they wound up rolling a truck any how. Installer had worked with me before, saw the complex mirror system, and decided the whole install was tickety boo.

    :eek2:

I don't think the OP will have any trouble, if payment record is good, D* will most likely try not to PO a paying customer.

That seems to defeat one of the purposes of the movers connection program. I always thougth that DirecTV wants a dish to already be installed at your old house in order to give them a better shot of getting the new homeowner to sign up for DirecTV once they move in.

that might be a "secondary" reason. First would be that is not cost effective to send a tech to removed a dish.

I just scheduled my move. The move with new dish, swm16, and a genie upgrade for free. I've been a customer since almost day one of the service.

Naturally, as a twenty plus year subscriber, I've been through an upgrade or two.
