My IPhone Slingbox App working on the AT&T 3G Network tonight! Working good!
Cool - just updated mine.
This has been confirmed on Slingcommunity.com.
Just tried it out. It works great! Video is smooth.
Works with both my Slingbox solo and older Slingbox AV.
Got it via standard updates. Nice. Looks pertty much the same as via a wifi connection so far. This could be bad for productivity at work!
Cool. PC World broke the story that it would be happening:
I'll be updating mine now!
Thanks for the heads up. Working fine on my Classic Slingbox!
I own a Hava which is a competitor of the Slingbox. Does anyone know when 3G streaming will be coming to the Hava? The Hava like the Slingbox has an Iphone App.
Perhaps this is mentioned elsewhere, but are you having issues with it working with the classic Slingbox. I see that it is unsupported, but I didn't know if you did anything special to make it work.
No issues so far. Seems to work fine. Granted, I've only been using it for half a day.
Sometimes when I connect I get the unsupported message, that I can ignore. Other than that it works fine. I am heading on 4 hour road trip tomorrow so it will be interesting to see how it works on the road.
I used it for about 1/2 hour on the road today and it worked perfectly.
Really depends on the terrain you are travelling. Look at the ATT coverage maps for 3g to ensure you are going to be within its coverage and you will be fine. I am fine travelling west of Tucson on I-10, but heading east puts me in edge coverage and it becomes unwatchable.
How is the quality specifically when watching sports?
Could you watch the Olympics without blurring, etc??
Slight blurring, but acceptable on 3G. Very rough on edge.
what is a slingbox???????????????????????????
It's a device that enables "Placeshifting", basically, it allows you to watch your home TV from any location (as long as you have high speed internet).
I was holding off on buying the app for my iPhone, but this announcement made up my mind and I bought/downloaded it today.
wait, didn't Sling say they didn't update jack sh*t?
btw, I'm referring to the main page on dbstalk.com which says "Sling updates iPhone application to stream over 3G. Discussion here."
That is what they said. I believe they are talking about the compression used to minimize bandwidth traffic. Of course, they did need to modify the program to allow viewing over 3G so a software update was certainly necessary.
The home page post was referring to the fact that you must update the app to get streaming over 3G.
