I am in Charlotte, NC. Last Saturday I got my replacement HR-20. Everything works except the local HD stations. This monring they actually worked for an hour, but now it is back to where it was. component inputs, tried resetting. do i need to change satelites? what can i do? i am beyond frustrated with this thing. and dtv has NO IDEA!!!

What kind of signal strength are you getting on your 99 and 103 SAT

What kind of message are you getting on the screen?

When my HR20 was first installed, as the tech was on the phone with D* all my channels started coming in EXCEPT my MPEG4 locals, even the MPEG2 HD channels. She kept "sending down" the authorization but they wouldn't work. A red-button reset got them to "stick" and they've worked ever since. It would be nice if the reset was faster than 10 minutes but it worked.

    99: (only 6 transponders)
    11 0 12 0 15 0

-and actually the HD locals are coming in right now? but i am sure they wont be soon.

on the 101, it ransges from 88-96 with two zero's.

i have reset 3x's already and no help. what do you mean send down authorization? are the hd locals needing autho to be viewed? my dvr service wasnt working at first even though it was on my account, so she resent autho and now dvr works.

    Those signals are EXTREMELY low...
I would have some one come out and allign your dish properly.

Anything less then a 50 is going to cause issues.

Good luck, I had 2 different guys come because of the problem you're talking about, my problem though is that I don't get any signal at all on 99/103. The installers have no idea about the new dish. They spend an hour then finally admit they don't know enough about the dish to fix it, then leave.

It's really bad when the customer knows more then the installer. I've been very unpleased with their install service.

Every channel on your account has to be authorized for your receiver/card combination. The CSR will have to send down the proper codes in the bitstream to activate your locals just like any other programming package. In my case, the SD locals were coming in but the HD ones weren't until a reset.

But after seeing your signal strengths and subsequent posts, it's pretty clear Earl's right. If your dish has a clear view of the sky and is aligned properly, you ought to be getting much better signals. I've got low to mid 90's on 99 (where my locals come from) and mid 90's to 100 on 101, 110 and 119.

It could be a few things:

    1. Poor aiming of the dish

    2. Defective LNB (at the dish)

    3. Bad wiring at the dish

    4. Obstruction (trees/etc) for just that portion of the sky.

Keep on D*...it is their job to get you a competent installer. Once you get them out to your place, they will be able to determine what is wrong. You might be quite lucky and have it be nothing more than an incompetent install/pointing problem. DON'T GIVE UP!

On that screen, you should see a box for the SATs with a + -

Click on them to select the different Orbit slots
