I'm thinking of getting a Panny 9UK which requires an HDMI blade...the blades do not accept 480i sources...I would like to have 720p and 1080i pass-through but 480i would have to be deinterlaced by the HR20 I guess...my question is: is native passthrough an all or none thing on the HR20? If it is, then I guess I could not use native passthrough with a Panny (with blade) as all 480i sources (SD) will not be displayed...

You can define what Video sources your TV accepts..
And it will "native" select, the appropriate source.

So if you are 480i source, but you didn't select it... it would push it out as a 480p
