I recently replaced my HR21 that had a hard drive failure with a brand new HR22-100. Anyway, as usual, checked the signal strengths, and all was good, other than I was still getting lower numbers on my 101 odd tp's, which a lot of people have been getting, and from what I've heard, is supposedly a problem *D* is aware of, and will take care of in a software update. Anyway, just checked today to see if there had been any updates lately, and noticed I have the latest 0x02AF software, so figured I'd check my signal strengths, and was really surprised at what I saw.......even worse than before, and different on different tuners. Here they are

    101- tuner 1
    53 71 51 80 48 79 63 72
    0 51 0 62 0 80 0 89

    72 91 80 92 75 92 0 95

na na na na na na na na

Obviously I posted the numbers for both tuners because, as you can see, there is a significant difference in the numbers for the 101 and 103c, between the 2 tuners, and some difference on some numbers on the 119 as well.
Of course, the first thing I did was swap the cables to see if the number patterns would reverse, and it didn't seem to do that......it was basically the same, which I though was odd.
Also, upon checking the signal strength a few more times after writing theses numbers down, I noticed quite a few 101 transponders going to 0.......it was all over the place......very strange.
O.k. so now I figured I'd see what happens with the bbc's removed, because when I was getting the lower odd 101 transponder numbers like a lot of people with the previous software update, I would remove the bbc's, and the numbers all went back to where they should be, ruling out a bad connection, lnb, tuner, etc. At least that's the impression I got, and was told that by people here and *D*.
Anyway.....off came the bbc's, and here are my 101 numbers:

    101- tuner 1
    95 95 92 100 89 96 95 99
    89 92 94 97 89 98 90 100
    92 0 89 100 89 100 92 99
    95 0 95 0 95 100 90 100

    101- tuner 2
    95 95 89 95 92 99 93 98
    95 96 94 97 94 100 91 100
    95 0 89 100 89 99 91 98
    95 0 95 0 95 97 89 100

Now the numbers are almost identical, and it's basically the same story with the 110 and 119. Obviously can't get my 103c numbers with no bbc's, but regardless, there is a huge difference between the 101 numbers without the bbc's, and both tuners are consistent with each other.
Also, my other bedroom Hughes receiver is getting good 101 numbers, so this rules out a bad lnb, tuner, or connection, correct? I think so, but correct me If I'm wrong. Also, is anyone else seeing this. I'm thinking it's still something they haven't worked out with the software, but I don't know. Anyone think it's the HR22? I come here before I call *D* most of the time, so any feedback greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Just to add........just rebooted the receiver, and checked the numbers again. 101, tuner 1 was in the 80's, give or take, and went to tuner 2, and it was all 60's and 70's. Went back to tuner 1, and now it was in the 50's and 60's.....and aging to tuner 2......almost all 0's! Took the bbc's off again and checked.......all 90's, and both tuners have practically identical numbers. Same with 110 and 119. I don't get it.

EDIT: Just swapped both bbc's just to be extra sure.......no change, so that rules that out. One thing kind of odd on another check was that this time the odd transponders on the 101, tuner 1, were in the 70's, and the even were all mid 90's to 100......went to tuner 2,and they were just lower overall.....no big difference from odd to even, but all considerably lower than they should be, and are without the bbc's. Just wanted to add that. I'm thinking it's still a software issues, but I'm all ears! Thanks!

This is exactly the same problem I am experiencing. I made a post looking for advice last night. Your post describes my issue exactly. I have not resolved the issue myself.

Well,if you're having the identical problem, the good thing is it points more towards the software than anything else......in my opinion anyway. Curious to see what other people say. Did you get any feedback with your post?

looks like you found my other post. I didnt have a chance to post specific numbers in mine, although they are very similar to what you posted. I will post my exact numbers tomorrow morning after work, but i have not heard from anyone who knows what it might be yet.

It's not that different to be 'zooming in' on these; they are all TOO LOW and are representative of a bad dish alignment.

You don't list you 99s/103s Ka spot beam numbers, or say what DMA you are in. It's semi-obvious that your SD locals are on 101/20 (100), and maybe something else (again, listing your DMA would help some there.

But the overall 'picture' is a poor dish alignment. The particular 'dead giveaway' on a Slimline (or an older Sidecar, for that matter) is the 110 numbers. Those should be in the mid 90's, and show that either the skew or something else is a bit 'out of wack'.

All 101 signals (except out of market spot beams, like 26/28_ should be at 80 or better, the Ka conus beams should all be at the same, 80 or better at a minimum (103c and the missing from your list, 99c).

The 'clue' to good alignment is those spot beams (both Ku/DBS and Ka) that are 'just out of your area'. In both northern and southern California, there are several spots that will be 'just off to the side', so to speak. Like SF vrs. Sacramento, or LA vrs. San Diego.

Post ALL the readings and the DMA and you might get closer to the problem, although like I said, from the info given, the dish is still off.

You obviously didn't read the entire post......here are my 101 numbers with the bbc's removed
    101- tuner 1

    95 96 94 97 94 100 91 100
    95 0 89 100 89 99 91 98
    95 0 95 0 95 97 89 100

right where they should be, and the tuners are consistent with each other, so my dish isn't out of alignment!
Also, my numbers on my 103c, tuner 1 are not TOO LOW!

I appreciate you trying to help, but you need to read my entire post, especially the part about the bbc's being removed! At least read the post prior to this one. Just for the hell of it, here are my 99s and 103s numbers, since you asked. Oh, and I'm 2 hours north of San Francisco......95482 is the zip, if that matters. But the real issue is why my 101,110, and 119 numbers go right back up with the bbc's removed. If the dish was off, they would still be low.

could have swapped with a bad set, I got 2 new ones that were junk before.
could be bad coax and introducing bbc's was the tipping point.
for comparison all my signals are 89+ on all sats, but this is with swm-8 so no bbc's are involved.

If it was bad coax, how could the numbers be what they are without the bbc's attached?

Makes NO DIFFERENCE. You still don't list the required information. BBC's WILL NOT do what you 'think' it's doing.

You're being led down the wrong track.

Something else is going on; please put the BBC's back on, and list the entire sat/transponder numbers. Also, again, which DMA are you in/part of.

I don't see where this is going since, if I didn't have HD, and had no need for bbc's, then the numbers I showed a few posts back for the 101, 110, and 119, with no bbc's attached, would be beyond acceptable. Them being attached and the numbers dropping like they are just doesn't seem linked to a misaligned dish, which you've yet to explain. Not saying you're wrong, it just doesn't add up to me.

I have been having the same issue and promised i would post my numbers. As you can see my numbers on the 101 drop significantly with BBCs attached especially on the odd transponders. 110, 119 stay the same with BBCs or not. I have tried 3 sets of BBCs (2 new out of box)

Yours seems a little different than my issue, in that you are getting much lower numbers on just the odd transponders with the bbc's attached.......I'm getting lower overall numbers on the 101. My situation was exactly the same as your before the latest 0x02AF update.......just lower numbers on odd 101 transponders.......and everything else was fine. I wish someone would at least clarify as to whether or not my dish could be misaligned, and I could still have the good numbers that I posted a few posts back without the bbc's attached, because 1948GG is adamant that it is, and I just don't see how.

IMO, your alignment is fine based on what you have posted so far.

Do you have a multiswitch in the mix somewhere? If so, is it possible to bypass it with some barrel connectors to one of the HRs giving the low readings?

Also, any splitters, splices or diplexors in line anywhere?

    Same for Sackchamp56

I have thought that the entire time.

No multiswitch other than the one built into the lnb. Also, I have no breaks in my cable whatsoever from the dish to the receiver. Think it's the lnb?
