What the system setup or the sledgehammer?

Seriously, I done the system setup 1 or 2 times before I called DTV at 12:30 last night. They weren't much help because their system was down. On the cell phone about 20 minutes. Called back this morning, same results, on the cell phone for about 40 minutes, there system went down again. That is when I got on DBS to give it a shot. After working all day on this, I guess it's time to go and do something that's more fun. Thanks for the comeback.

    18"
multiswitch - I don't what this is but SWM gives me nothing on tuner 1.
    single.

The only thing that works is the guide and the "active" button. Ever thing else I just get the 771 message.

in SAT Setup you should see more dish "type" options. SWM , Multi, etc. are dish types. You're looking to select a single or 3 LNB dish type for your setup.

ok so 18, MS and Single seem to be the right options. Now that everything is done, have you done a reboot of the receiver???

There are several ROUND dish types. Make sure you are selecting DISH 01-Round. Also when back to live TV try to do a soft reboot (menu reboot).

I am almost sure a soft reboot will solve his problem, but only time will tell.... :)

ok well been going in and out trying to get some yard work done (gotta come inside occasionally since working with 6000% humidity is not pleasant)... Anyway I feel like the dirt I was digging, so I am going to shower. Will try to check this post when I get out. Hope it worked for you.

Just to let you know I haven't been watching tv. I tried the reboot and still having the issue.

I don't want to spoil the party but my wife is waiting for me over at the casino. I got to go eat dinner. I don't think she knows what we're doing here but I have to give her a break... it's our anniversary.

If everyone is still around tomorrow I try more stuff. Thanks everyone for all the help. Whatever happens if this fixed or not I'll reply so everyone is updated. Later.

WOW. Doesn't make sense. I thought for sure the reboot would fix it.

    Please answer the following:

    • First, go back into the satellite setup and make sure the settings stuck, and please post the exact thing it says on the SATELLITE line in your response
    • Next, what version software are you running?
    • What type of LNB do you have attached to your round dish?? If you don't know, how many white plastic things are on the LNB?
    • How many coax cables do you have coming out of your LNB
    • Do you have ANYTHING between your receiver coax port on tuner 1 and the satellite?? This includes splitters, switches, etc.
    • Do you have ANYTHING plugged into tuner port 2 on your HR box??? This includes a BBC with nothing hooked up to it.
    • Do you have a BBC hooked up to tuner #1?
I know a lot of these questions seem stupid, and some of them don't apply to your configuration, but I am just trying to figure out exactly what is wrong, and trying to understand your setup from end to end.

Actually there hasn't been a response to whether the correct SAT setup selection was found (for Round dish), so maybe we should start there.

I wonder if you have your antenna pointed to 119 deg. The fact that you got the guide and not video creates this possibility. You need make sure the antenna is pointed to 101 deg.
