QVC and the Home Shopping Channel have received reassurances from the FCC that the new cable rules allow them to offer financial incentives to cable operators in return for carriage. QVC's spin-off channel, Q2, is offering cable operators $3-$5 per subscriber as a launch incentive. Also, cable operators don't have to adjust their cable rates to offset income from sales commissions, according to the letters of clarification.

Both HSN and QVC return a percentage of home shopping revenue to subscribers.

So, when did they stop returning a percentage of their revenues?

Well, that is an Asinine Statement Jeremy. You have to Pony up a lot of money to buy Directv's Badge of Loyalty.

I spend about $140 per month with Directv so I guess I am a Loyal Customer because all of my DVRs are HD!!!

I now have 8 DVRs and 4 of those are HR24-500s so does that make me more of a Loyal Directv Customer than you!!!

    What a ridiculous statement.

Go HD or go home. SD viewers, broadcasters, and providers are dragging us down and slowing progress. It may not be a popular opinion, but it is my opinion.

Thanks for that list in such bold, bright colors.

I have been hankering for more HD but now I know how close to complete happiness I am. There are only a couple of channels in the non-premiums I have any personal interest in. (BBC and TCM, really, although any nature or science channels are welcome.)

Yet, I wil cheer any more HD, even if it is something I am not particularly interested in. I have always felt that the more HD, the better for all.

Yeah - I would hated to miss that list.... :D

...even if there are only 3 of them that I'd even think about ever watching here...

But I'd be very happy for the other poster. ;)

Does anyone have a list of all the channels that D* carries only in SD and not in HD? Meaning, channels that D* already carries that broadcast in HD but D* only carries the SD version.

If they turned off all of the SD channels tomorrow Directv would be the smallest programing provider in the country and costs per sub would have to through the roof. SD viewers prices go up with everyone Else's each year. All of that money goes to launching very expensive satellites so we can have more HD. Nothing is being spent to improve SD quality or to add SD channels yet they continue to pay more for programming to subsidize HD. I watch TCM in SD if that was taken away I would Drop Directv immediately. Screw them, screw Sunday Ticket and screw the HD snobs. I enjoy HD but content is king.

I would strongly argue that your statement there is wrong. Of the two Satellite providers, DirecTV has more HD channels, and there are still MANY more cable TV operators with far fewer HD offerings.

Concur. History International is my top choice for the next wave – assuming one eventuates – of HD programming. Comcast, my other provider, offers History International HD in many localities but, as of yet, not mine.

I'm talking about people who watch SD channels, they would have to go to Dish or cable to see their programming if Directv dropped all SD channels as some here are advocating. I have 5 DVRs all HD and Premium programming. I get Sunday Ticket every year because I love the NFL.

I even have an SD TV in the house. I know that makes me a disloyal SD watcher and I should just go away. My next door neighbors have SD only and I'm still on speaking terms with them. That's probably disloyal too.

    What's the definition of mainstream?

Wealth TV? If less than 1 percent of the population ever heard of it, can it be mainstream?

If you had read anything at all about the Mayan Calendar and it's Predictions or the Iching Calendar and a similar End Date, or the "The Orion Prophecies" or "The Mayan Prophecies" or "The Mayan Cosmogenesis" then you would have realized that this was a hokie Hollywoodised Version that was so far from the Truth that it was Laughable to me.

It was closer to "Twister" than the Truth but oh well that is Hollywood screwing up what might really happen and it was such a waste of money to produce it and not have more of the Truth of the Matter conveyed to the Masses.
