This is a staggered rollout and these can't be forced.

It can be forced but only when/if the x576 firmware is in the stream for that particular rcvr. You can try looking here - http://www.redh.com/dtv/index.php?home

    Winters,...
It's not really recommended- talk about unsupported!
Far better to join the CE program, then there's peer support, and damn good ones at that.

Yes, it is important to note that if you force the DL prior to it being pushed to your rcvr you will be running "unsupported". However, the code in the stream during the window is the same code that is being pushed so your risk is fairly minimal at this point in the rollout process (actually much less risky then participating in the CE program). And you can get help/monitor issues with x576 from many of the same "damn good" people that participate in the CE program here - http://www.dbstalk.com/showthread.php?t=198289

This isn't 100% true. The user needs to do it in the middle of the night, and it needs to be on the right transponder, "and" the users needs to check/know the rev they're looking for.

Not the best option for the uninformed.

I'm not sure what the big hurry is, if you are patient DIRECTV will send it to you folks and you will not have to monitor anything, stay up all night or anything else. It will just happen.

What if I like staying up all night to get new software? Did you think of that?

In other words, like any good six year old:

    Iwantitnow!Iwantitnow!Iwantitnow!Iwantitnow!Iwantitnow!Iwantitnow!Iwantitnow!Iwantitnow!

    :dance01:

I'm going to hold my breath until I get the new HD software! :new_puppy

...and depending on where you are you may not have to stay up all night. Recently the x576 code has been in the stream for most rcvrs around 6:30 ET.

    That is Irrelevant.
Perhaps you missed my post and following post, there was an example of FW announcement what direct particular DVR/receiver to relevant transponder.

I didn't miss it, nor do I believe it's 100% true, with what has happened when DirecTV puts a new version in the stream and we can't force it.

You're not showing me "packets" when it doesn't work, and calls need to be made to DirecTV to cure it.

I know you've spent a lot of time and effort on all of this.
"It would be great" to have your expertise when this goes south, but we don't know when that happens until it's been announced, shows up in the stream, and then nobody can get it. It may be due to the wrong info "packets", or .
Sometimes DirecTV changes transponders, and sometimes they pull it, and after a bit, start all over.
