I think my Audio Problems got fixed with this latest Release but I will have to spend a little more time in order to verify that.

    And the HD leader is?

It is not DISH (no ESPNNEWS, ESPNU, DISNEY, etc).

I wonder if they finally got a card so cool looking that kids will want to take them to school for show and tell..........or sell to their junkie friends?

How about using the same artwork on the ads that announce a new (higher) rate for installations?

Well there's a lot of content I used to have with Comcast that is missing. I moved and couldn't get Comcast. Such is life I guess. Anyway there are other threads on here and DirecTV's official forums with many complaints on lack of HD channels. So back to the thread...

Is the access card like a SIM card (in the mobile phone world)? I've seen SIM cards in credit card sized format and you would just pop out the small portion with the metal contacts. It looks like the contacts are similar. The card is "married" to the receiver ie) you can't take it to another one and expect programming, right?

Do you think they will always use these cards, or is a future DCAS (Downloadable Conditional Access System) in the works? What is the point of the card? Piracy control?

It's a very similar concept, yes.
    Correct.
The purpose of the cards was to allow the CA to be updated if/when it was broken. That happened a few times back in the day, but the current system has proven to be very robust against hackers. Theoretically there is no reason they couldn't incorporate all of the CA functionality into the receiver, but I assume it's sort of a "not broken, don't fix it" situation.
