Now that MOOD MEDIA owns DMX (Sonic Tap) I ran across a new PDF of their DBS channel listing (many of which appear on DirecTV). The listing is dated 3-29-13. I found their "new" names so funny and confusing I thought I'd share the ones that are carried by DirecTV. Hopefully, DirecTV won't change the names in the program guide....

MOOD MEDIA bought MUZAK as well as DMX. They dropped the "Muzak" name because it had "bad connotations" of being just elevator music.

SiriusXM has some pretty dopey channel names also. And blabby DJ's. And little to no stereo separation. And a boatload of compression. And, and, and.....

I was checking out dmx music website and stumbled on this announcement about name changes to music channels and I quickly called their customer support line and they verified that Sonic Tap will go through name changes shortly as well.

For one ,they are going to change Coffee House Rock to The Cafe and tweak it to sound more like xm and slackers coffee house stations, which I look forward to.

Also Folk Rock will become Acoustic Crossroads which I look forward to as well.

Below is a link to name changes coming on some of their line ups and another link to sample the line up.

The Cafe and Acoustic Crossroads are names of Muzak channels that DISH offers as part of its music-only lineup.

I wonder if this is a wholesale replacement by the Muzak offering as opposed to a name change and format tweak.

I work out twice a week at a 24 Hour Fitness club, and I'm pretty sure they use DMX for the background music. Over the last couple of weeks, the music selection at the club is noticeably changed (for the worse IMO). I wonder if the changes being discussed here have something to do with it, or if the club simply decided to change the station(s) they have on.

Noticed these name changes awhile back on the DMX player at work. But never saw them change on DTV. I figured well the names DTV currently has are a lot easier to understand for the average consumer so I figured that's why they hadn't changed them.If someone wants to listen to Alternative well the name Alternative makes a lot of sense doesn't it? Instead of the name Feedback...

According to the DMX web site link listed above:

As a part of our recent changes, you may notice that the names of your favorite programs have changed.
No worries – these changes are "in name only" and do not reflect any changes to the program content. Your daypart schedules will NOT be affected and there is no need to make any changes on your player.
The names of our programs delivered by satellite will all remain the same.
