bryanw3535, I do appreciate your help. Your reply that I am not smart is also an insult, but chuckled when I read it. I was not intending to insult you or anyone else here. I apologize if you feel insulted. We do things different.

Something to keep in mind, they do keep notes in accounts about what a customer calls for. If you call every month and try to get something free expect to eventually meet a wall of ice.

I was installed like a week and a half ago and I got alot more then SuperFan for free. I got Showtime free for a year, Free HD Extra Pack for 3 months, Free Game Lounge for 1 month, Free SuperFan, Free Nascar Hotpass, as well as other perks but that was all the package stuff I got out of them. As you can see you can get much more out of them as a new customer. I wanted to experience it all to see that I am really gonna want to keep.

On Friday, the installer was to show between 12pm-4pm. I got several calls from the installer's Co. and DirecTV they would be running a tad late. I told them I had to leave at 7PM for work. He showed at 6PM, which was not enough time. Yes it was a minor pain, but it was what I figured would happen. They rescheduled for Labor day from 12pm-4pm.

Hello everyone, im new to this forum. I actually found it by accident. Anyhow, I decided to make the switch from Comcast to Direct. Mostly, due in part because of the premier free for 4 months deal they were running. That and the fact that Direct offers a much bigger HD channel lineup then Comcast does in my area. They also gave me the superfan for free which was definitely a big plus! Anyhow, I have to admit that some of the HD quality has been a bit underwhelming. My signals on the 99c and the 103c have been in the 60s and 70s. From what ive read, those arent great numbers and maybe why some of the HD hasent been up to snuff. I voiced this concern to custumer service and so they're sending out a tech on Monday. My question as a new subscriber to all in the know is should I ask the tech to specifically look at the 99c and 103c numbers? Or is there something else I should bring up? I realize that the tech should know his/her stuff and I shouldnt have to bring this up. However, if it wasent done right the first time, I want to make sure its run right the second. Thanks in advance!

What exactly is the problem with the HD? Does the picture break up? What TV do you own? You may need to calibrate your settings on your TV since you are feeding it a different source. Correct me if I'm wrong someone, but if your signal is in the 60's or 70's, it will not affect the quality of the picture. The picture can start to freeze up and pixelate if the signal strength drops to a lower number, maybe in the 40's. I cannot give an opinion yet on the quality of DirecTV's HD yet until Monday after my install. I have read (Please do not flame me) that DirecTV compresses their HD signal more than most Cable Providers, thus losing a tad bit in quality.

I own a fairly recent 1080p Smasung model and I watched cable and now Direct via HDMI. I have watched both under the same exact settings. There is some moderate pixelation on some channels. Mainly though, it seems that some of the HD channels arent quite as clear and crisp as their cable counterparts. Dont get me wrong, the quality isnt terrible by any means, its just not great either. Although the compression issue you bring up might be the culprit. I assumed that "HD lite" wouldnt be a big issue because direct improved on that (from what ive read) At the very least, I hope the tech attempts to realign the dish to raise some of those numbers. im still satisfied overall with the product. Hell, im not even a nascar fan but watching the nascar hot pass channels were pretty cool tonight. Good luck with your install.

Your best bet is to go here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=9 and find which sub forum for your TV and maybe someone else has DirecTV and your same TV and they can give you their settings to try. I believe once you tweak your settings, you will see improvement. I also hope my install goes better than it did on Friday. I was out for hours today cutting, trimming, chopping trees and limbs. My yard looks like a beaver on meth ravaged all of my trees:lol:

If a tech is more than thirty minutes late you generally qualify for a $100 on time guarantee credit.

If any new subscribers are interested, here is a great site for info about where to point your dish http://www.dishpointer.com/ I know its been mentioned in other threads. It has helped me figure out what limbs to cut down.

Well the tech ended up coming early which was great. He right away acknowledged that the 103c numbers were not up to snuff. They're now in the low to mid 80s. Still, wish he could have gotton them into the 90s though. I mentioned that and he said that this was the best he could get it. When I brought up the 99c numbers he said that in my region they arent even using that sat.
