:D My site just made Engadget HD (click the picture)...

I've been working hard on a new version with updated info, including screen shots, downloadable documents, OAR, contact information, etc. So keep checking back for updates!

    Paul,
I know this could end up being a lot of work, but I think bringing in the companies that advertise on these stations would do wonders in getting them to fix the problem. Maybe a contact list for the top 3 advertisers for each channel?

A few letters/emails from viewers to a station may get some attention.

The head of marketing for Bose on the line and "really mad" will get their attention VERY quickly.

I think you can get a lot more done by contacting the networks involved directly. All you will do is p*** them off by contacting their advertisers. They need to be given a chance to respond first.

??? So they won't fix the problem when their main source of $$$ is telling them to?

That may be the case in grade school, but these are professionals who have their pay based on income.

My point was, as a first step it would be the curious thing to do, before you go to the advertisers. Maybe they think people like Stretch-O-Vision, but if they hear different they may be willing to change it.

I know if I was an advertiser and I saw my commercials, for a product I am trying to sell, defaced and look bad because they are stretched out of proportion, I wouldn't have to wait to get emails or phone calls from consumers. I would be on the horn with the networks in a hurry.

    Another new update to announce...

Virtual Channel(s), Satellite, and Transponder information have been added. Don't get too excited though. :D Transponder information for DirecTV 10 isn't available yet.

Move your mouse over the channel number for the additional information.

And as always, if you find any inaccuracies, please let me know.

    1) For the mislabeled SD content, I would try to incorporate the words purposely and/or falsely in the description. If you put those in there it makes it sound like they really are trying to fool us.

    2) I think you need to add another box on the right stating if there is not an All or Some in the Mislabeled SD content column, they correctly labeling SD as SD.

    3) In the Network Contact Box maybe also link to the thread at AVS that has contact info for the providers.

    4) Put a PLEASE SIGN on the petition box.

Are we 100% sure the guide data is inaccurate because the networks want people to believe stretch-o-vision is HD?

This one? http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=914099 Or is there another?

I can't say 100% sure, but TNT has been doing it for years now and they haven't changed it. If it was a bug in their software then I'm sure we would've heard about it by now. Or even the newer HD channels. It usually doesn't take long for that information to go public.

Yeah. I'm hoping I'll be updating it Wednesday.

Can you put streaming video of each channel on this website so we can watch them in real time? :D

70 and 501 are virtual duplicates of channel 509 (HBO HD).
71 and 537 are virtual duplicates of channel 543 (Showtime HD).

They are both in the list.

Thanks for your site. However, I believe that both 622 (YesHD) and 623 (NESNHD) are both 1080I.

Nice. But I would say 501 is HBOHD and 70/509 are the virtual channels, since, that way, the HD and SD version share a number like they do for the other channels.
