Yep, same here. I really noticed the blocking in the background too. I'm glad there's not many regular season games on the NFL Network.

I really dont think it would have helped anything putting it out in 720P , looked more like the overcompression that everyone talks about that I rarely see. Just in this one it was so obvious and often

I've noticed several channels seem a little off lately. I was hoping it was because they were moving things around or testing the new sat, but I don't think that's the case.

Locals look awesome as usual, but 70-77 have looked pretty much like garbage lately.

Hmm, i havent noticed much lately, but then again i havent had much time to really watch and when i did it was locals OTA.
    Ill do some checking tonight.
I really do think its all testing or something with the new bird.

No, sorry. But there isn't anything wrong with your TV itself is there? So long as it's got a component or HDMI input you're all set with using a regular receiver.

Yeah...he makes it VERY hard to watch NFL Network games. I was hoping they'd sign a new play-by-play guy this year. Next game I'm going to try turning down the center channel to see if it takes the announcers completely out of the sound.

Well I'm glad it wasn't just me. I thought it was something wrong with my TV.
My Buddy thought it might have had something to do with the weather in Ohio??
But the Mpeg2 thing makes more sense.
I hope they get whatever the issue is fixed quickly:)

Yeah i think it was more simple overcompression than it being mpeg2. Not sure what all they had going in HD, but with it being EI time probably alot. So trying to squeeze more on to please everyone and end up making it bad for most. Then again they may have just put the least amount they could get away with since it was preseason. Either way, it wasnt what ive come to expect from my HD service.

Um, you should really upgrade to an HR20 and 5LNB dish asap. It's no sure thing that DirecTV will continue carrying these games on an mpeg2 special events channel one the new satellite is operation and the NFL Network gets it's own full time HD channel.

    +1!
Upgrade as soon as you can, shouldnt be anything holding you back now that the HR-20 is going like it is. Works great!
