And what does keeping on at DirecTV look like. I called last night to be told by two different people it wasn't there fault, that there was nothing they could do. Their advice to me was to write the FCC because they make the blackout rules. Since then I've emailed and had no response....

Bottom line is DirecTV is a big company who have people on their front lines who can't answer people's concerns and certainly can't fix them.

I suppose I should be thankful that there have been less problems this year with NHLCI but what happened last night should not have.

I live near Harrisburg, PA and it was blacked out on NHL Network here as well on D*. No idea why since we are over 200 miles east of Pittsburgh and FSN Pittsburgh is not our RSN (CSN DC and MASN are). I could care the least about the Pens but am PO'd about these screwed up blackouts from time to time.

10 miles outside Philly and no blackout on that telecast here. Now if I could only convince them that I'm NOT in the Rangers blackout area.:nono2:

I had the following email from the NHL today....
    --------------------------------------

On Saturday 12/20, there was a technical issue on DirecTV's part. You should have seen the TOR/PIT game on the NHL-N, but because of this isolated incident, unfortunately, you were blacked out. We have spoken to DirecTV about it in order to prevent it for future games. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    --------------------------------------------

So DirecTV had a 'technical issue' that caused the problem. I would have much preferred that the CSR's at DirecTV had told me that they had no idea what the problem was rather than the spin that it was the fault of NHL imposed blackout regulations.

I had not looked here for quite a while, but here in Pittsburgh the game WAS on both FSN Pittsburgh and NHL Network. It looks like a "reverse blackout" problem that has happened in the past. I was very surprised to see it was on the NHL Network.

I heard something on the NHL network tv show -NHL live yesterday that the problem ( black out in NJ ) was with a computer glitch with Directv and it would be fixed.

Confirmed that it was indeed on both NHL Network and Fox Sports Pittsburgh here in Pittsburgh. I figured we would have to listen to idiot Steigerwald. Fortunately, I was able to watch the HNIC broadcast.

It's distressing to see on the NHL Network thread that DirecTV is still telling people they did nothing wrong.

Next Saturday the NHL Network will be covering the world Junior Hockey Championship so there will be no HNIC.

I see that DirecTV does have the Leafs Ottawa game on their schedule at 7PM but no 6:30 pregame show. It would be nice if they added the 6:30 show and then KEPT THE FEED OPEN between the two games and then showed the 10 PM game on the same channel. InDemand IS doing this so the feeds are available.

    We shall see

I never got a reply to my email to DirecTV either. Not a very good way to treat paying customers.

I've gotten replies each time from D*, but each time they tell me I am in the Pittsburgh market and should be blacked out. I tell them I sub to NHL CI and the FSN Pittsburgh feed is not on that night. I live near Lancaster, PA (over 200 miles EAST of Pittsburgh). My email to NHL Network went unanswered from last week.

This improper blackout stuff has got to stop. I understand that if I am in Pittsburgh I should be blacked out on NHL Network if the game is on FSN Pittsburgh, but if you're going to do that, then turn on FSN Pittsburgh.

Anyone else trying to watch Rangers/Islanders on Versus tonight. Versus HD is just a black screen. The game comes in on the Standard Def channel fine. I'm in the NY area.

I've been having the same problem with Rangers games. They keep blacking me out of any games involving the Rangers???????:nono2: I'm in Flyers territory and shouldn't be blacked out for the Rangers. Even according to DirecTVs website.

I did get a reply to my email saying I should just find the game on another channel??:nono2: This was after about a month of back and forth trying to get the CSR to even understand the problem. Then it was kicked up to a "tech" who was the one who wrote to find them on another channel.:eek2:

If anyone gets hold of a person at DirecTV that has any clue about NHL blackout rules ...PLEASE post it here so that maybe we could get a hold of this person and get these unwarranted blackouts taken care of.
