Do the Kings every show any games in HD?
I have seen some Kings games in HD, but it is 4x3 with pillar bars, upconverted and transmitted in either 720p or 1080i, but I don't recall seeing any 16x9 720p or 1080i games.
Are you sure about this? The Jackets website shows the game on FS Ohio in HD. FS Ohio is also a game only HD channel on DirecTV and 660-1 was showing up in the guide with the game in HD.
FS West is on DirecTV 24/7 in HD so any game on FS West will show that it's on an HD channel even though it will usually only be an upconvert of the SD feed.
It appears for the rest of the season FS West is only producng the 1/8, 1/10, and 1/15 games in HD. I would only expect these games to be 16x9 720p or 1080i.
I wonder why they're not doing more home games in HD though.
I know you're tired of hearing me say this, but I hope next season ALL home and away games are in HD.
It seems most Kings games on FSN West say they are in HD but end up being SD. I think it sucks. I would think the teams in the 2nd biggest US city would be in HD (at least home games).
There's NO excuse why they shouldn't be ! I switched over and watched their SD feed.
This Wednesday's Canadiens/Rangers game is scheduled on NHL Network at 8PM ET, but the game actually starts at 7:30PM ET. I see the error on the NHL Network listings on both DirecTV and Comcast.
I saw this as well. I wonder if the NHL Network will take the MSG feed or a Canadian feed. I can't recall ever seeing an MSG feed on NHL Network.
It should be the TSN Wednesday Night Hockey feed. At least that's what it's been in the past.
I suspect it will be the TSN feed....
WHICH by the way DirecTV isn't showing for the Leafs home game on NHLCI tonight. I can only assume that DirecTV won't shell out the extra bucks to bring in dual feeds for this game. DirecTV does seem to be showing Rogers SportsNet feeds pretty consistently which is good but not TSN feeds unless they have to becasue there are no other options.
Here we go again with the WRONG BLACKOUT!
I am not in the Rangers territory, so I get blacked out of MSG network... THEN on the NHL network, it thinks I AM in the Rangers home area and I get blacked out there too!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Directv has rhe NHL network set up incorrectly because I am in the Bruins territory not the Rangers, so I should be getting the game.
I am currently on hold with the programming department but I'm not holding my breathe, but this is the SECOND time this has happened this year.
I'm beyond PO'd at this point.
FYI, i put this in this thread and the CI thread because thinking about it, this really isn't a CI issue, so it should reall y be here.
That's brutal. I'm getting it in Michigan on NHL Network(blacked out on MSG). Sorry for your pain, I'd be pissed too.
If you are referring to tonight's game, you have the blackout rule reversed. If the game is on The NHL Network, you get blacked out, from the RSN (in tonights case MSG), out UNLESS you are in the the Rangers home territory. The reason being the NHL Network has rights to the game, EXCEPT for in Rangers home territory. The only way you can see tonight's game outside of Ranger home area is on NHL Network. The same goes if the game is on Versus. Everyone is blacked out of the RSN except the home area(s) of the two teams playing.
DirecTV has it right tonight.
Umm, that's what I said, but Directv(someone anyway) has it wrong, since I am being blacked on on BOTH the NHL network AND MSG.
I am NOT in the Rangers home area, I am in the BRUINS home area, so I should be getting the game on the NHL network(and be blacked out on MSG, which I am blacked out on MSG). The issue is the NHL network thinks I AM in the Rangers area, thus the NHL network is blacked out too.
As an FYI, I don't have this issue with VS.
I thought you were saying you were blacked out on MSG only, I misunderstood you. You should have it on one or the other.
I feel your pain.... I get blacked out of EVERY Rangers game no matter what channel it's on and MSG is supposed to be my RSN. I get it EXCEPT when the Rangers play. I've been emailing and calling all season and the only response I get is "sorry, find it on another channel".:nono2:
What part of South Jersey are you in ?
I'm in Glassboro in Gloucester County
I would encourage you to go to the NHL's website find the contact us section at the bottom of the page and send them an email about this. They replied to me while DirecTV did not the last time this happened on a Saturday night a few weeks ago.
