I wonder how D* gets this feed, when NHL Network showed highlights of it in On the Fly and cut to it live once or twice, it looked good (well as good as SD can look anyway).

NHL NETWORK is based in Toronto; same location as TSN, I believe so it seems to be a DTV issue; although to be fair, not sure if Dishnet or InDemand had issues.

NHL NETWORK I think is a product of TSN, they have VERY similar presentation.

NHL NETWORK in Canada is partly owned by TSN.

And it was really bad. Not only in black and white, they added fake scratches and picture problems - just like in the 50's.

Whoever had that bright idea needs a good bodycheck.

Ok so I'm new, but I've searched around as many appropriate message boards as I can find and have not yet noticed one single post about this subject:

Last night when watching NHL Center Ice on DIRECTV, There was a channel saying that "if you are looking for NHL Center Ice and NBA League Pass, you can find your games in the 600s". None of the 700s channels (including the NHL Center Ice scoreboard on 769) were there. The games were on the RSN's, but it's quite a nuisance now because I have to search for what games are on rather than having them all in a line.

Also, I'm wondering if this means I am going to receive the non-RSN's for games that aren't on the RSN's (Sportsnet channels, specifically). Has anyone else encountered this and, if so, do you know why they decided to do this? Thanks.

EDIT: Today's Oilers/Kings game is supposed to be on Sportsnet West and FS West and I'm only getting the FS feed.

That did not happen to me last night - The regular 769-785 was as normal.

I called Directv and according to them on some older receivers channels in the 700s as well as some ppv channels have been removed from the guide. They weren't very specific - some technical issues, I was told. I still see those channels but I only have HR2xs and H2xs on my account.

What receiver model do you have?:)

My brother was at that game last night. He told me they actually changed the cameras during the two intermissions, which makes me wonder if RDS was doing the same thing or not (anyone know?).

In light of recent events, I suppose it would've made more sense to do a black & white telecast on February 17th...

I believe it is the Philips DSX 5250 (that's what it says on the receiver).

I haven't had a chance to call them yet, but what you said makes sense since I am using the same receiver I have used since I got DirecTV in September 2000.

The message that I get on Channel 699 and 794 reads "If you are attempting to find NBA League Pass and NHL Center Ice Games: Please turn to Regional Sports Networks in the 600 channel range to locate and view games."

I'll probably call later today and I may need to get a new receiver since it's quite frustrating having to search for games (and not even receive certain games like the ones broadcast on Sportsnet)

So whats the deal with some games' HD versions being just a black channel? It happened yesterday (I cant remember which game) and its happening right now with the Devils/Sharks game. I can get both SD versions of the game but when I tune to the HD version which is listed on the guide all I get is a black screen.

MSG HD is off Center Ice because of a dispute between the Rangers and the NHL over the rangers website, can't say why the sharks hd feed is not on

Trying to watch the Devils/Sharks game too. The guide lists the Devils HD broadcast via MSG+ HD as being available, but only a black screen shows. Just spoke with a DTV CSR who said they did not have the rights for the HD broadcast. The SD broadcasts are like watching with vaseline smeared all over my glasses.

Too bad the Sharks don't have an HD feed available.
