I'll blame Canada. I'm sure it is expensive to get an HD feed from Canada for a small network like Altitude.
i didnt watch very much of it last night, but bell did have the altitude feed last night in hd (along with the habs feed in french hd)
For the games that have multiple feeds on CI…..is there a way to determine what feed each channel is showing?
typically the visitor is the top sd and hd feed and the second feed is the home teams sd/hd feed ....
so if the penguins at playing at the capitals and they are on channels 770 and 771 it would work like this ....
770 SD Pens (visitors feed)
770-1 HD Pens (visitors feed)
771 SD Caps (home feed)
771-1 HD Caps (home feed)
Well I have Dish and their guide shows which team's feed is which and they have many four feeds for the same game. Two for SD and two for HD.
now that dish network is refusing to pay fox sports extra money for additional games, fans in st louis are being blacked out of a bunch of blues games on fsn midwest, and dallas on fsn southwest. That is sd and hd.
what a freaking mess
Someone needs to step up and tell D*, E* and the various teams and their carriers that there is no excuse for a single game not being available in HD, both team feeds!!!
Unless the game is broadcasted in SD only. Not every RSN is loaded with all the necessary HD equipment. Many share it between baseball, hockey and basketball teams.
Another option is to go to the D* website. Here is the unformatted listing for tonight:
That's great, but seeing as this is a Directv CI thread, how is that beneficial to the poster's question?
What sucks if you're a Sabre fan is that tonight the Thrashers are the AWAY team and we have the Thrashers HD feed being used (note it is against the Devils), yet tomorrow's game where the Thrashers again play AWAY at Buffalo - has no Thrasher HD feed....another SD Saturday fro Sabre Fans
I believe that's because for the Sabres game, the Thrashers have a radio only night. So we only get the Sabres feed. On the bright side, we get to listen to RJ. For the Devils, its on the local Sports South RSN. Just the usual Buffalo luck.
According to the DirecTV schedule, Thrashers-Devils tonight will be an upconvert if it's from SportsSouth. I am going to tape the MSG rerun of the game and hope they have got their act together enough to show replays in HD this year, I noticed they had a Ranger replay in HD a couple of nights ago.
You were right. I was checking in on that game and the Thrashers/Devils game is upconvert SD with sidebars. It still looks better then SD, but I hate the 4:3 screen.
So Marlen, it really didn't matter that the Sabres isn't in HD tomorrow, if it would have been upconverted SD.
We can't get a break! I saw the game is now on 769 as HD, but if it's just an upconvert, I'll dvr the NYA feed and get the Buffalo call/coverage
I think that "HD" marking in the guide is a mistake, since the HD feeds are always on the "-1" channels. And the only feed tonight is the MSG feed.
Its just so frustrating to watch the game in SD on MSG. Especially when I watch the post game show on the MSG HD feed and they show the highlights. Wish the NHL would just pay the price for the MSG HD rights.
Or is it because they're using the full time HD channel feed and assume that its going to be in HD?
I really wish the NHL would do more afternoon games on the weekends. Tonight, [strike]12 out of 17[/strike] 8 out of 12 games start at 7pm ET. I can't watch all of those at the same time.
I don't see anything listed for 769-1 tonight, it says "To Be Announced". If it is HD, it would be the first time I have ever seen that happen on NHLCI.
On another note, has anyone received a postcard from D* saying "Your season ticket to the Philadelphia Flyers" is waiting? Its a solicitation to sign up for NHLCI on the Early Bird offer.
Whats strange is I'm already signed up and why does it have the Flyers? I live in the Dallas market and a fan of the Sabres. Is it just the team they listed on all the postcards?
