    Another CSN-Philly SD feed tonight.

EDIT: Looks like TSN2 is using the CSN-Philly feed tonight.

I am watching it now and thought that's weird.. TSN using the CSN Philly feed. Ottawa doesn't have a game feed?

Since the Flyers-Sens game is simulcasting to CSN DC, California, NW and TSN2, can anyone confirm if they are getting the HD feed or SD from CSN Philly?

I don't understand how this coverage works??

As for CSN Philly on NHLCI - it is the "feed of last resort" as explained to me by John Tortora (who was, I'm not sure he still is, VP for Media for the NHL). In other words, they use CSN Philly on NHLCI when there is no other feed available. In this case, since TSN's feed was available that was the feed used for the game - despite the fact in DirecTV's case they had another feed available to them.

As for the coverage question - the rules are weird. I know for example that in parts of upstate New York that are Sabres territory, there are Devils, Islanders, and Rangers game available (without NHLCI) as long as the Sabres aren't playing at the same time. I think this is the deal with CSN Philly showing Caps games and CSN Washington showing Flyers games. As for why it was CSN California - you've got me there.

I am in the CSN DC area. Our local Comcast cable system has a channel that shows mostly infomercials. However, from time to time, out of market hockey from other Comcast areas appears on this channel. I checked the guide and the St. Louis/Chicago game is scheduled for next Wednesday and both the Pittsburgh/Philly game and the Ducks/Sharks game are scheduled for next Thursday. Of these games, the DTV guide shows only the Pittsburgh/Philly game on the main CSN DC channel.

Yeah, Comcast likes to share their NHL broadcasts in other parts of the country. If you watch a CSN feed, you will occasionally hear the announcers say something like "We'd like to say hello to those of you in [such-and-such place] watching our game on [such-and-such channel]." The "such-and-such channel" is frequently either (a) a Comcast SportsNet in another market or (b) a local Comcast announcements channel. I also remember once hearing a game being also available on the Mountain West network in Denver (though if it was, it wasn't in the guide on either D* or Comcast - I was watching the game time-shifted, so I didn't tune to see if it was really there).

I suspect these CSN simulcasts, as a general rule, aren't allowed for usage on Center Ice. What I'd be interested in knowing, however, is that if heaven forbid DirecTV can somehow acquire CSN Northwest (which, according to the NHL schedule page, has some Vancouver games), could DirecTV then use the CSN-NW feed (probably a SNET rebroadcast) on CI?

There are no HNIC games on the NHL Network because the NHL Network are showing a Woman's Pre Olympic game. I read somewhere else that in order to get the contract for the World Junior Series the NHL Network had to agree to take these women's games as well.

As to why DirecTV isn't showing the national HNIC game which is Toronto Washington, your guess is as good as mine. They have it listed only on 771 which is a mirror of Comcast Washington on 643a. They have dual feeds for a number of games but not this one. They would need to pay more for the HNIC feed so they wouldn't want to do that now would they?

Yeah it seems like lately they're only using the Canadian feeds if thats the only available feed of the game.

FWIW the NHL Network is showing the whole HNIC package (both games in HD) tomorrow starting at 10 AM Central.

    Beat me to it.

But would it have really been that hard for D* to flip the switch 30 minutes earlier and show the pregame on 770?

Now they cut off the feed as soon as game 1 is over on 770 instead of carrying the broadcast over to game 2 which begins in about 7 minutes. Pathetic!

Can anyone tell me why the Stars Vs. Kings game is blacked out on 677, 677-1, 678, and 678-1? I live in Michigan, last I checked thats nowhere near Dallas or LA. Also, they only have one feed available on CI, that being the Kings feed. WTH?! I was looking forward to getting the Stars coverage tonight after having to put up with San Jose's horrid announcers last night. I cant ever recall a game on one of Dallas' stations being blacked out for me up here that wasnt at least also on CI.

I called DTV and even the rep said it should'nt be blacked out, but couldnt give me a reason as to why or solve the issue.

I know that Dish has some kinda spat with FSSW where like 20 games or so are not available...please dont tell me thats gonna start affecting DTV now too!

Considering a rep from Indemand flat out posted other wise and "cheap charlie" who IMO would not pay 10 cents to use extra feeds uses every SD Canadian feed out there I have a hard time believing DirecTV has to pay anything extra for the CBC feed tonight, IMO it is just them being lazy.
