the same thing happen with the flyers.

Last tuesday the Devils and Flyers played on TCN and NHLN it was blacked out including the replays.

The next 2 games flyers played leafs on leafs Tv and NHLN both games weren't blackedout and was able to see both games and replays because CSN, TCN didnt broadcast any of the games.

so if it was blacked out in your area your local RSN must have had a role in it.

Was it on your local MSG RSN? If it was, that is probably why you were blacked out on NHL Network. That happens to me when the Panthers or Lightning are on Fox Sports Florida or SUN Sports.

It is the 26th of September, less than 1.5 weeks away from the official start of the hockey season and some teams still haven't announced their TV schedules? I can't remember if it took this long last year for teams to release their schedules, but it seems to be getting a little late.

No it was not on MSG (the local RSN). The Sabres do not broadcast any preseason games at all.

It should not have been. I've contacted the NHL Network for an explanation. Since there was no local broadcast available there should not have been a blackout at all

In market, no. The Buffalo News confirmed that the game will be blacked out in Buffalo/Rochester.

Here is the schedule for DirecTV's Center Ice, but no channel assignment yet. Also, it doesn't show, yet, what will be in HD and what will be in SD.

In past years channel numbers have only shown up a few days before season started. Sometime the schedule was even later than this being posted.

Just how in the heck does the NHL Network blackout work?

None (zero) of the Sabres preseason games are broadcast on the local regional sports network (MSG).

I could understand the blackout if they were shown locally, as to protect the local market's broadcast ads etc.

But why are the LIVE and even the taped REPLAYS blackedout?

    Who is a fault here?

Or are the blackouts in error?

My brain is scrambled on this one....

From several places I have read that blackout rules vary from provider to provider. In other words a cable company in say Buffalo has different blackout rules than DirecTV or DISH, that also service Buffalo. Sounds like they kind of make them up as they go along.
