The NHL won't give a discount, but hopefully DirecTV does like they always do. Like regular price $99, but $50 for those of us playing retention CSR roulette. I'll take that and run...

I am thinking a sub $100 price is likely where this will fall. Or perhaps there might be an incentive to sign up for this season and receive a deep discount for next season.

The lockout may provide an additional incentive for fans in Carolina, Minnesota, Columbus, Anaheim, and Long Island to sign up for CI.

It's the middle of January and their clubs are still tied for first!

FWIW, I called just now to remove NHLCI "Auto Renewal" went to retention dept for the hell of it, and asked for it to be removed.

The rep checked to see what the new price will be but obviously she couldn't find any info yet.

Couldn't agree more. They didn't care about the fan in July, why in January? Hockey fans, which number the same as NBA in attendance, are the most loyal of the 4 major sports (despite what Lupica and his gang of idiots said on the sports reporters today on ESPN9, it is a major sport). The NHL doesn't need to win anyone back. They're already here.

Really? Even if this were a weekday and D* were on the ball, you didn't expect anything yet did you? The rep has no clue my bet when the NHL season starts and ends.

Good lord people...wait until we have a ratified deal and a price for CI before you cancel so you have it as a negotiating tool.

Looks like the first games of any kind will be 1/15. Not sure if that is pre or regular season though.

if they are smart they wouldn't play any preseason games, because most of the players have been playing somewhere and don't have time!

Those are just the games that haven't been cancelled yet. The entire season was on the schedule at one point, but every few weeks more and more games were dropped. The latest was on December 20th when they cancelled every game until the 15th. The latest rumor is either a 50 game season on the 15th or a 48 game season on the 19th depending on how fast they ratify the deal, get all the free agents signed and try to get players to come back from Russia.

NHL sends memo to clubs indicating no camps before Saturday (and may not open until Monday), 48-game season to begin Jan. 19.

Take that for what it is worth.

iNDemand only controls digital cable, DirecTV and Dish program their own Center Ice packages and have been doing so long before Sports iNDemand debuted. They do not "own" Center Ice, they just package it and distribute it on behalf of their affiliated digital cable systems. There is a minimum amount that goes to the NHL, usually 50% of the suggested retail price.

Huh? Where did you get this info from? CI has always had select 1st and 2nd round playoff games if my memory is correct. On DTV anyways, cant speak on other providers.
