    Announced early this morning:

    "NHL Net nabs U.S. Carriage

NHL Network, currently on Canadian TV, skates south this month after completing distribution deals with U.S. cable operators Comcast, Cox Communications, Cablevision and Time Warner, and with satellite operators DirecTV and Dish Network. In total, the network will pass about 72 million U.S. homes. "

I've read where the NHL Network is supposed to carry 50 games this year.
Now if we can just get them on the air, in HD, and watch some games!!!

This is great news. I know they've been testing it & it's logo has been on, then off the list of upcoming HD, so now it's great to see it "on" again. Now lets hope for full time HD!!

Great news, hope to see the network soon. Don't mind the question, but where did you find this news release? I can't seem to find it on any searches.

I cannot find the press release on nhl.com anywhere, but there appears to have been one this morning, which is summarized in the link above. I found the press release a a hockey blog I read.

Via Kukla's Korner Hockey Blog (can't yet post urls)

Perhaps they can't get a break because of the hideous uniforms. Why ruin a good thing and put small numbers on the front. Curse that Reebok!

Yea I know...the whalers would have never stood for that....

but I do recall having to listen to some really annoying music in the area everytime they scored a goal....some sort of team theme or something

What some found annoying others (including myself) found refreshing. I remember one night when the Whalers defeated the Bruins 10-0. Thirteen times the song played!

BTW that Brett Hull goal against the Sabres was a good goal. The puck got there first before his feet did.

I'd trade Sabres HD coverage for the NHL Network. NHL Network gets added here to Time Warner Rochester tomorrow on channel 233, but I live 25 miles from the HSBC Arena and no Sabres in HD. I will check out the NHL Network, it will be a welcomed addition, but HD coverage would be better, but oh well.

oh...okay...what's next? Wide Right? The Hull no-goal was just another glaring example of how the NHL just can't get it right. Sort of like providing HD signals to paying subscribers of D* or enacting some inane blackout rules for RSN's that make the NFL's B/O rules look easy to understand by comparison...is it time for Bettman to go yet?

Question: Will just being a NHLCI subscriber get me access to NHL Network, or does one need to subscribe to the Sports Pack as well?

Oh please... You know how many identical goals were not counted that season? We never said give us the cup because of it. We never said let's go to Dallas for game 7. All we wanted was to keep playing game 6 until a legit goal was scored.

That is a VERY good question. I notice that subscribers to the NBA League Pass get the NBA Channel. So, if logic holds then those of us who subscribe to NHL CI would also get the NHL Network.

But after all the hassles of the last week with DirecTV I'm not holding my breath.

The rule is still there, and it has always been there. Its the enforcement that has changed back. Now, it isn't video reviewable (thank God).
