Really? Is there a link confirming this?

Wow, this makes ZERO sense. Seems the NHL purposely dreams up ways to alienate their paying customers. We'll finally give you the NHL Network but we're going to make it available to only a small percentage of customers. Another awesome move by the powers that be.

Gary Buttman strikes again! Well done sir!

We may be getting ahead of ourselves here. When the first announcements were made about the launch of the NHL Network I think it was Dish Network who said they were only going to offer the HD version. So let's not jump to conclusions just yet.....

When the BTN was launched, they included both the SD and HD feeds. I would expect the same set-up for the NHL network.

Good to hear. I'm looking forward to the NHL Network and I certainly assumed it would be available in SD and HD. Glad to hear HD only NHL Network is simply an unsubstantiated rumor. However, with Gary Bettman running the ship, I wouldn't put any poor decisions past him. I will say I am extremely thankful and happy with NHL Center Ice. That's one thing Bettman and the NHL got right.

Both E* and D* 's sports programming is of interest to me and other subs as we
try to figure out who to sub to. Discussion of this channel on E* as a full time
HD channel is part of this thread.

Here's hoping there will be some real news on this soon. All of this speculation is bad for the blood pressure!

Don't spike your BP ... the channel will be here soon, I'm sure.

Then people can complain about the programming ;)

I am going to be upset if this is in HD and HD only.. I have one HD Big screen, but would like it in the other room which aren't.

I don't think that "HD only" precludes you from watching on a SD TV. It will be letterboxed but should be viewable.

I don't think that's the case. I can't watch HDNet on my SD TVs at all. There has to be a SD feed to watch SD channels, unless you have an HD receiver.

According to the faq on D* website, late October for HD and early '08 for SD.
